Designing children's eyewear is a real treat for our product development team. Kids crave peer acceptance so creating designs long on the cool factor is essential. Styles popular with adults, including retro and cat-eyes shapes, are irresistible on little faces. We also love to layer on elements that celebrate childhood such as bright color options and youthful patterns. While kids' frame styles have changed through the years, we've found that the best eyewear designs simply let kids be kids!
Here are four trends you can count on for the 2015 back-to-school season. See left column for examples:
Mini-Me Silhouettes - Cat-eye, wayfarer, and club master-inspired shapes are miniaturized to look beyond adorable on our youth. (Styles: Awesome, Giddy Up, Tidbit, Topple, Rainbow)
Hues of Blue - Denim is a staple in every kid's back-to-school wardrobe. Whether for jeans, skirts, jackets or vests, this ubiquitous material makes blue-colored eyewear a natural choice for boys and girls alike. (Styles: Awesome, Gotcha, Peer, Runner)
Kid-Friendly Materials - Lightweight materials such as TR90 memory plastic provide all-day comfort, while 180 degree spring hinges are well suited for a kid's rough and tumble world. (Styles: Awesome, Peer, Topple)
Youthful Design Details - Neons, vibrant pops of color, polka dots, and more make this year's eyewear collection for kids a shear blast. (Styles: Rainbow, Topple, Doodle, Lotus).
