♥ Hello from Safari ♥
|
HI EVERYONE, IT'S ME SAFARI ♥
I am dropping by to say Hi and to let you know how I am doing. My wonderful and loving Foster Mommy sent this update:
"Here is a recent photo of Safari. She is still doing well and is as spunky as ever. She is such a happy dog and loves to be on the go. "
My Foster Mommy is using the Amega wand on me every day and I am still getting my laser treatments on my legs. She is a little afraid to stop going to the laser treatments because they do help me, but she has discovered someone in San Diego that knows a lot about the wand and is going to try to meet with them so she can get some more information about the wand and see what they think we can expect from the wand for me. Here's hoping for some great information.
Please keep me in your prayers so I can continue to do well. Why don't you drop by our web page and see some of our adoptable little Yorkies . You might just fall in love. If you are not able to adopt now, perhaps you might consider a donation to pay it forward so YTNR can help others. Will see you soon, I love you all and thank you for caring about me. www.yorkierescue.com |

Seen here is Sir Vincent with his new mom. His mom wanted him long before he was neutered but was willing to wait for this precious little man.

Here is Lucy, previously Vivianna, with her new mom. I think they like each other! Better than that, love is in the air. She will be very spoiled.

Thank You for opening your hearts and homes for these

My beautiful Morkie 08/10/2008 to 08/09/2015
April 1/2015 was diagnosed with a collapsed trachea I followed the advice of the vet with certain medications and to be cautious he seemed to be doing better but the last week he went from ok to terrible to dying. I am so upset and feel the guilt of not having the means to have had the really costly operations that had no guarantee it would even be effective .... My precious dog was so loyal, alert, bossy, sweet and the little guard dog of the house... I am pained that he was a victim of a puppy mill and want to warn others about the dangers of this illness and congenial defect Avis was a treasure and was loved by so many my heart is broken and want his story told ....

My very best friend in the whole world, Bella, works downstairs for Cover Story Communications, a public relations firm. We're meeting with them next week to see what they can do for us. Whenever I get into the elevator and Bella's been in there recently I go absolutely wild. I race back and forth and make special little "BellaBella" noises so Mom knows who I am looking for. Sometimes I find her in the garden in the back of the building. Sometimes her mom comes and takes us both for a walk. It's so nice to have a BFF to share your innermost thoughts and feelings with. Here's a picture of me and Bella on one of our walks. It's so important for us all to show our good friends that we love and appreciate them.
Remember a few years ago when we had "church" on Sundays? I was the pastor and we had a pretty big congregation. Facebook reminds us of moments in our life that are worth remembering and a couple of days ago one of my "sermons" popped up. I have really nice memories of that whole year we shared together and this one sermon seemed worth sharing with you all. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Smile and say "I Love You!" - August 21, 2011 Welcome Welcome WELCOME!! I think we need to order more pews, and a couple of perches. I see a couple of parrots out there today. Every Sunday we make a point of turning to our neighbors and wagging our tails as a sign of peace. Today I want to talk about showing signs of peace, love and friendship whenever we get an opportunity. We went to MaryElizabeth's Dad's Memorial Mass on Friday morning. It was a solemn reminder of how unpredictable and fragile life is. We met Patti and Richard there - Eleanor's mom and dad. I have to say that they are just the nicest people, and Richard looks absolutely wonderful. He has twinkly eyes, and they both have the warmest smiles. The church hall was packed with friends and family. FORTY-TWO of the people attending, I was told, were family and I know that's just those who made it to the West Coast to pay their respects. There was easily over a hundred people there...and two Yorkettes (who were both amazingly well behaved) - me and AthenaMaria Dugmore. MaryElizabeth's nephew Zach (Zak? Zac?) created an absolutely beautiful montage of photographs tracing Bill's life from when he was a young man in the service, through his wedding, children, anniversaries.....all those important moments.....and we couldn't take our eyes away. Funerals are a celebration of life, and a reminder to us all that we are only on loan to each other for a brief moment in time. We all really belong to God. Mom wept, laughed, smiled and hugged and for a couple of hours, feeling as if we were part of this wonderful loving family. They are all truly blessed to have each other. Mom then decided to and contact the members of our immediate family for positively no reason other than to say "I love you!". Who knows if those will be the last words she says to them? She called two of her three brothers as she said she was going to do. The youngest one still had a message on his voice mail from last Tuesday. She left him a message saying that she just called to say she loved him. That should freak him out. Then she called her other brother, the oldest of the three, and he immediately wanted to know what was wrong with her...or did she know something about him that she wasn't telling him about. "Nope...I just called to say I love you, because you never know if those will be the last words you say to someone!". And he started talking...and they actually had a conversation. He NEVER has a conversation. He's very cerebral and is a professor and ...well, he just doesn't talk much. Finally, his dinner was ready and he said he had to go. Before he hung up he said "I love you very much, too!". It made Mom a little tearful as neither of us remember hearing that before. I'm glad she called them. The third brother, the middle one, has been sick and she's been talking to him for the past few weeks on and off. She told him she loved him, too, a couple of days ago. He thought we should say that to each other more than once a year. I agree with him. And finally, we got a nice email from my Aunt Jackie in response to our voice mail message to Mom's youngest brother... She and Mom talked a long time today and caught up on stuff, and when they were ready to hang up they both said "I love you!". All it takes is one person to smile and other people smile back. And it takes one person to say "I love you!" and pretty soon, everyone else is saying it too. And it becomes easier and easier to say each time. Now....turn to your neighbors and wag your tails as a sign of peace and friendship. We do this every Sunday and it's becoming a habit. When you leave chapel , wherever you go......muster up the biggest smile you can and flash it to everyone you see. Your goal is to get them to smile back, and your hope is that they will pass that on to someone else. On your way out, please help yourself to some Pupperoni rolls and Cheez-its. The scouts are away on a campout and the Kindergarten pups are assisting in the pre-school class this morning. The Ladies of the Leather Collar and the Knights of Pawlumbus are away on retreat, so we just put out some snacks and you're all on the honor system today. Blessings to you all

PetMD compiled a list of the 10 most commonly used school supplies that present a potential choking hazard for pets:
- Erasers
- Glue sticks/bottled glue
- Coins
- Action figures/small dolls
- Bouncy balls
- Crayons
- Markers
- Pencils (even small splinters can get
- lodged in the mouth and esophagus)
- Pens (watch out especially for pen caps)
- Paperclips
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), fortunately these items are considered "low toxicity" to pets. This means they probably won't cause your dog or cat serious problems unless large amounts are ingested.

Trip to London and Downton Abby by Paula Fonseca
|
Last month I was able to fulfill a dream I had carried for over 30 years: I took a trip to England. I was joined by my three daughters and a fabulous time was had by all.
| My daughters, Lacey, Amber & Brittany on the south lawn |
The trip was planned around the date of the summer opening of Highclere Castle. This is the estate used in the PBS show Downton Abbey. The castle is the current home of the 8th Earl and Countess of Cavernon. They open the house for a few weeks each spring and summer to the public for tour, generating income to help offset the cost of maintaining such a large and old castle.
We arrived in Newbury the morning of our tour and entered the gates of the 1000 acre estate. The scenery was lush and green. After traveling a winding country road for a bit we came around a turn and there it was - the castle. I have watched the show for a few years, but I was not prepared for the sheer size and grandeur of seeing it in person. Upon entering the front doors, I snapped a quick photo before being told that photos were not allowed inside. That's a shame because there is so much more to this grand home than you see on television. We toured the second floor and saw the bedroom that the Downton character Sybil died in, Cora's bedroom and the notorious room where the Turkish Ambassador suffered his heart attack in Lady Mary's company. There were many other bedrooms as well, each with its attached dressing room and 'bath room'. The bath rooms are just that- a large room with a bathtub. No sink or other facilities.
The lower floor that is the setting for many of Downton Abbey scenes is gorgeous. The library, the dining room, the grand central parlor were all grandly opulent, yet familiar to me at the same time. It was such a thrill to descend that beautiful staircase as we have seen the Grantham family do so many times. Again, there are many rooms downstairs that you never see on TV. One of these displays the desk and chair that belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte.
After touring the grand house, we visited the cellar which has been renovated into a museum for some of the artifacts recovered by the 6th Earl of
Cavernon when he discovered King Tut's tomb. The first section is filled with genuine articles, the second section is filled with replicas of the larger pieces which are in a museum in Cairo.
Upon leaving the museum, our group stopped in one of the three tearooms to get a snack. It was very good timing as a few minutes later, in walked the Countess herself! She measured some light fixtures, and then was gone.
A tour of the large gardens of the estate was our last stop. The grounds were immaculate and colorful. There is a 'secret garden' inside a brick wall enclosure, a couple of green houses and large expanses of lawn edged with flower beds. They grow a lot of lavender that they use to make sachet and soap that they sell in their gift shop.
My daughters and I also visited many of the landmarks in and around London such as Stonehenge, the Roman Baths, the Crown Jewels, Oxford and Buckingham Palace to name just a few. The rich history there combined with the amenities of a world-class city made our trip all that I could have hoped for. My only regret is that I wasn't able to visit the town of York and see the original home of the Yorkshire terrier. I missed my own Yorkies terribly which was the only downside of my vacation. I highly recommend adding a trip to England to the bucket list of anyone I know.

Neeko's Joke ;o)
|
~ A boy asks his father, "Dad, are bugs good to eat?" "That's disgusting. Don't talk about things like that over dinner," the dad replies. After dinner the father asks, "Now, son, what did you want to ask me?" "Oh, nothing," the boy says. "There was a bug in your soup, but now it's gone." ~
Hope you All had a Pawsome summer.
Meee had a very busy one for sure. My Auntie, Izabel, from Romania with my two skin-cousins, David & Luke, visited with us for seven weeks and we had lots of fun together.
My new skin baby sister, Faith, is growing and thriving in our Pack. She weighs 12 Lbs now and is 11 weeks old. Baby Faith is very funny and noise does not bother her and in fact, she seems to enjoy it and rests comfortably when she is in noisy environments. Thank Heavens for that because our house is LOUD...
We found that Faith loved watching cartoons on the Discovery family channel but cried when the commercials came on. Therefore, my Pawrents bought some DVD's of her favorite program "My Little Pony", and she is quite animated and excited to watch these. Another program she enjoys is the Strawberry Shortcake series and she is watching these from her favorite spot
Wishing you All a very Happy and Healthy Autumn!
Love to all,
Neeko :o)
