Newsletter for Yorkie Rescue
June, 2015
In June, as many as a dozen species may burst their buds on a single day. No man can heed all of these anniversaries; no man can ignore all of them. ~ Aldo Leopold

Editor's Message
|
This might sound a bit strange, but I miss you all! After explaining to a friend what our friends and family weekend is like, I got a little sentimental for my YTNR community. I am so glad we have technologies that allow us to stay in contact over the distances, and I am grateful that we have venues such as our newsletter to share information.
I cannot believe it is already June; the stark reminder of it was my trip to the dry cleaners to get my graduation regalia dry cleaned and pressed. Graduation Day is a day like no other, particularly for Empire State College students who are adult students who have overcome challenges to go back to school and acquire their degrees. I admire persistence wherever I see it. I borrowed the term "stickability" from an old friend many years ago, and have used the term ever since to describe people who have self-discipline to hang in there when things are tough. So many of you, our volunteers, have stickability. It is a quality that permeates our organization, I would even suggest that it is what has engendered our thriving all this time.
Nicholas, Leiko and I wish you a lovely June.

Scam Alert!!! |
It has been brought to our attention that someone has built a rescue web page using stolen photos of our dogs, some of which have already been adopted and living happily in their new homes. These people are getting your money and shipping charges promising to send you the rescue by shipping it via air or by car. Be warned, do not send money over the internet expecting to adopt a dog.
Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue does not ship their dogs. We do not ask for money in advance. We have personal contact with you as soon as the adoption process begins. You will meet our representatives in person at some point when we are processing your application. YTNR is a 501 ( c) (3) organization and we are accountable to the IRS. We are looking for the best possible home for every dog we rescue. Don't be fooled by someone out to take advantage of your good heart with stolen photos.

"Just wanted to let everyone know we made it back to Alabama late last evening. Little man Rudy was the PERFECT traveling baby. He is one special little guy and we are all madly in love with him! He came in our home last night and once his sisters smelled of him for a minute or two, the fun began. They were running all over the house and playing and chasing each other! It was awesome! We put a soft ottoman by our bed with his little bed on it...all through the night he would pounce on us in bed and start licking us all over our face. He is something else! And he loves, loves, loves our back yard. He gets to watch the birds and squirrels and he loved doing that at his foster mommies house. He is without a doubt, a wonderful addition to our family."
| Played in yard for long time this morning....explored with daddy...now asleep in mommy's arms....this is "furever'! |

Lilly came into her new home, checked out every room and went to her bed and settled down. She was home! Lilly's foster mom was so sad to see her go.
Lilly will be loved forever.

Thank You for opening your hearts and homes for these
precious rescues and making their dreams come true!

MARY-MARGARET'S DIARY
May 16, 2015
New people bought the house next door. I think they have two little boys. We are playing peek-a-boo between the slats of the fence. Mom says "no barkies" so I have to use my indoor voice, but that's ok. It's a small compromise to have someone to talk to again. When my friend Pooka passed away a few months ago his dad was so sad he sold the house and moved to San Diego. Now I have little boys to talk to. I am one happy puppy.
May 17, 2015
Uh oh. News flash. The new people have a DOG. Big...brown...maybe part pitty...big "woof" type of arf. So far I've kept it at bay. This is MY crack in the fence - the one I shared with Pooka. It hasn't come up the slope to peek through yet. Mom says the new dog is probably a girl because of her pink collar. Still...we'll take things slowly until we establish who's the dominant one here. I'm thinking it's me because she seems a bit shy, but then she could just be testing me. I'll keep you posted. I really hope we can be friends.
May 18, 2015
This morning, Big Brown Dog introduced herself to Hollywood and her sister (the dogs on the other side of my yard). Major barkfest going on, back and forth. I went out and said "Werff?" and suddenly they all got quiet. Yes. I think I am the dominant female in this pack. I think we will all be friends, too.
May 19, 2015
Everyone was already up and barking by the time I went outside this morning. I let them know I was there and they got quiet again. I decided to show my appreciation by taking a couple of pieces of my breakfast kibble to share with Big Brown Dog through the hole in our fence. Unfortunately I only got as far as the slider door before I got distracted and dropped them. A loud "YOW!" from Mom and a stern glare reminded me that I should not leave kibble on the kitchen floor where she can step on them in her bare feet. So much for having good intentions.
Hope you all have a wonderful June!! See you next month.
Love, Mary-Margaret

Neeko's Joke ;o)
|
~ A young woman went to her doctor complaining of pain. "Where are you hurting?" asked the doctor. "I hurt all over!" said the woman. "What do you mean, all over?" asked the doctor. "Can you be a little more specific?". The woman touched her right knee with her index finger and yelled: "Ow, that hurts." Then she touched her left cheek and again yelled: "Ouch! That hurts, too." Then she touched her right earlobe. "Ow, even that hurts!" she cried. The doctor checked her thoroughly for a moment and told her the diagnosis. "Madam, you have a broken finger." ~
Love to all,
Neeko :o)
