Hopes, wishes, dreams and intention are gifts that are expressed in a variety of ways including prayer, silent thoughts, and supplications. I think that what is planted in our heart is the seed for a joyful manifestation and that we are responsible for tending to the care and nurturing of that seed. Such care and nurturing involves some discipline and focus and even times, as I advise students, hard work and sacrifice. It is a rare occurrence that something has ever dropped in my lap. Even my beloved Nicholas and Leiko, if I trace the trajectory of each arriving at my doorstep, were the result of accumulated social capital and reputation-not only of me, but of Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue. The work that we do in Yorkshire Terrier Rescue is an effort of all hands on deck, of people contributing in their own ways, offering their time or talent or treasure, or a combination thereof.
I am excited about 2015 and I foresee our best year yet for YTNR. I invite you to revisit your commitment to us, and to perhaps consider different ways of engaging, in ways that work for you. My intention is to revisit my own capacity for recruiting and developing volunteers in New York.
The rewards are amazing.

 Mary-Margaret O'Brien speaks out! |
Am I the only one who sees the ASPCA or UNICEF type commercials with sad, suffering little animals or children who wonders why the people taking the videos don't help? Or do they? When the video is finished, do they go back and feed these kids or take them warm clothes or cover them with clean blankets? I always get so depressed when I see these that it makes me cry and I wish so much that I could help. But all they ask for is my money and they say they will send me a picture of "one of the animals in their shelter". Big whoopee.
One article I read had the former president of ASPCA (who resigned) last year and noted his salary the time was $566,064.00. That would buy a lot of kibbles and blankets. UNICEF President and CEO was almost $500,000.00. And so it goes. But who takes care of us little kids who really need the help? Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue does. It's staffed with loving caring people who give of themselves and do whatever it takes including spending their own money to help us.
Just remember YTNR operates on love first the next time you are thinking of donating to a charity. Your money will go for medicine, hospital and doctor's costs, kibble, blankets and finding homes for us. Isn't this what a charity should be all about?
Oh...and we had snow yesterday. Yup. In Temecula, we had SNOW and it's still stuck to my grass today. That's a big deal because it NEVER snows around here. Mom says it snowed maybe a 1/2 inch or so in Pasadena about 66 years ago but it melted in a couple of hours. Something sure shook the Earth off it's axis in 2014.
Hope 2015 is a happy, productive, and profitable year for everyone.
Love and kisses to you all.

Hello from Neeko ~ Blast from the past :o)
|
Hello ALL and Happy New Year!
Hope you had a nice holiday season and the New Year started Pawsome for you. At my house was business as usual with my Bro Ray putting the icing on the cake on New Year's Day. Will tell you all about it later...
This month Meee would like to share with you an old email that Meee stumbled upon while flipping through my archives. It was a reply to a Lady that was asking advice about toys, bathroom habits, diapers, etc. for her Yorkie boy named Eddie. Here it is:
Feb 5, 2011
Hello Eddie's Mommy :o)
About the toy business: Us Yorkies Love toys! Please see attached picture and see if you can find Meee in my pile of toys ;o) Let Meee know if you need help.
On top of all these toys, I get a chewy a day; kind of like "busy" work so I'm not annoying (um... meant to say, playing with) my siblings. Also, I Love fetching tennis balls; great way of burning energy. Maybe Eddie would like to try that game too. Now about the belly band, belly wrap, etc. Meee calls it Fashion belt. Us Yorks and Yorkettes like to dress up so we really do not mind wearing it at all times if needed. The Girls wear the "Bikini". Do not ever call it diaper though because it hurts our feelings. Yes, you read it right! We do get our feelings hurt very easily and when that happens, well let's just say, things just happen... like we "invite" the outdoor critters into the house and they leave our pawrents "gifts". I know we take great risk by doing this because we end up taking the blame but it is all worth it getting even. My Mommy is not buying the story about the critters. Oh well! At least Meee gave it a shot. It caught my eye, that your boy Eddie "talks" a lot. All Meee can say, welcome to the club! We do a lot of "talking" because we live to protect our family. Anything that moves could be the enemy and our Yorkie instincts kick into high gear; sorry it is in our genes... We respond very well if our Humans assure us that everything is alright and nobody is hurting our Pack. My Mommy does this by retrieving Meee from the window and kissing the top of my head saying: "It's O.K. Neeko! No need to worry." It actually works 98.9% of the time ;o)
OMD! Look at the time! Got to run now, My Mommy is calling us for dinner. Smooches, Neeko :o) P.S. Please ask your boy Eddie if he has any questions. We are here 24/7 (Meee thinks that means, always open?)
Wishing you a Blessed and a very Healthy New Year! Love and Smooches, Neeko and my Pack ♥

~ Grandma was giving Sarah some wise advice: "Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Do you understand what I mean?"
"Yes, Grandma. It means we should finish this apple pie right now." ~
