Our two precious Liver Shunt Babies ♥

Amora Dora and Dante
These two little ones had their surgery at the University of Tennessee last week and are home and doing well.  They are sore but we were happy to learn that each of them had a single extra hepatic shunt and the  biopsy shows that there is no MVD so we thank everyone for their prayers and support.

The Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue Inc. is run solely on private donations and fund raising efforts made by people like you who love this Breed. We appreciate your support

Mary-Margaret O'Brien  Remembering Grandpa.....

It's with a heavy heart that I must tell you that my Grandpapa passed away on June 1st, 2014.  He was 93 1/2 years old.   I went to visit him shortly before he left us.  I snuggled with him and we visited just like we did in the old days.   He remembered me, too.  "Oh, my sweet Mary-Margaret!  I just love her so much!",  he would say.

He liked to sleep a lot and mostly he kept his eyes closed.  He was sort of dozey as I attempted to get comfy on his hospital bed with him.  One side of his bed let me look out his window and the other side was closer to where my mom was sitting.  Rather than walk all the way around him to get to the other side I took a short cut, unfortunately missing my mark and landing smack on his "gentleman" parts.   "OHHH.....AHHH....!", he said as he opened his eyes and quickly sat up for the first time in a long time (I'm told).   "WHAT....?   Ohhh....Mary-Margaret!", and he laughed and petted me some  more.

Now that we had him awake and alert, we suggested he might like some ice cream...vanilla, perhaps?  That got his eyes twinkling again, so Mom asked the nurse for two little cups of vanilla ice cream and she spoon fed him according to his request.    It wasn't until after he passed that my Uncle Mike told her that he could have fed himself, but we didn't mind.   It was nice to feel that we made him happy at that moment.

I would have enjoyed some vanilla ice cream, too, but nobody offered any, and despite my efforts to communicate my wishes I was very loudly ignored.  The silence was practically deafening.  Hmmmph.

Here's a picture of my Grandpapa when he was working at RAND Corporation back in 1955.   He was pretty important back then.  He was consulted by Robert Oppenheimer, Edward Teller, Arnold Kramish and other nuclear bigwigs of the day.   He would review their calculations and make corrections where needed.  No names will be mentioned but my Grandpapa kept one physicist from embarrassment by moving a decimal point a few spaces to keep his intended KAPOWIE BOOM from being only a minor POOF.  That's all I'm gonna say.

My Grandpapa was a genius when it came to Atomic Energy and it's applications in both war and peace.    He also wrote a remarkable theory on the beginnings of the Universe called "Photon-NonPhoton Universe".   You can read it by going to http://www.photon-nonphotonuniverse.com .  It's been read and downloaded by people from all over the world.  It's my Grandpapa's gift to mankind.

I'm so very proud to be his "beloved Grand Dogger" and to have been loved by him.   I will miss him so very much.

PS - Me and my mom were given a bunch of really old family albums to sort through.   Not that I know any of those people but just from my mom's periodic mutterings to herself, like "Who the hell is THAT?", I'd like to suggest that you humans go through your photos ASAP and label them with names, dates and places.   This is not something you want your descendants to have to do when you are gone.  Trust me.

Love,
Mary-Margaret O'Brien

This is Queenie,  She came from the East LA Shelter and was in horrible shape.  Now has a great home. Adopted by Terry Kerley

Originally found in a box in Northern California named Suki and Sprockett

Adopted by Lisa and John Dunham in Ontario California

Their new names are DARLA & ALFAFA

Becky and Don Tortorice  Adopted Sterling who is now renamed VITO.

I was in Boston and Minnie and Bella came to see me. I also got to spend the week with Skyler.  They were all adopted a while ago but are living happily ever after in their new loving forever homes.

This is Minnie who is living with Colleen and Adra.
You can tell by the smile on her face how happy she is !

This is Bella and beautiful she is!
Her forever mom, Dorina, is still head over heels in love with this lucky little doll baby.

It was so wonderful to see Skyler again!  He is living the life of Riley in the loving care of Betty and Ray DeAcetis.   I actually think he remembered me because I found him standing beside me a couple of times and when I picked him up he Blessed me with a kiss or two or three or four, every time he was on my lap.  It makes me so happy to see one of our very first liver shunt babies doing so well all these years later.

Neeko's Joke ;o)

~ A woman opened the front door of her home to find a young minister from the neighborhood who said: "I'm collecting donations for the new children's home we're building. I hope you'll give what you can."
"Absolutely," said the tired looking woman, "I'll give you two boys, two girls, or one of each."
