Basic Human Needs Grants Applications on the Rise
Our 2015 Basic Human Needs grant applications are in! This year we've received over 60 applications with grant requests totaling more than $680,000. As food prices and unemployment rise, your support is more crucial than ever in helping to strengthen programs, especially food pantries and community kitchens, that serve communities in need.
Grant awards will be announced in January 2015. To learn more about the programs we currently fund, click here.

Pleasantville Community Gardeners Lend a Helping Hand in the Bronx
When 12-year old Devin and his father first approached Episcopal Charities seeking a grant to start a community garden, we were impressed. When the Pleasantville Community Garden generated more than 1,000 pounds of fresh produce for needy families in its first year, we got excited! This summer, Devin and his parents were joined by a host of volunteers from Pleasantville, who spent the day at St. Ann's Church in the Bronx helping to rehabilitate their Children's Garden.

Episcopal Charities Spends a Day at the Harlem Community Justice Center
Early this fall, we visited the Harlem Community Justice Center to meet volunteers from the Reentry Family and Faith Circles of Support program. This ministry of presence, coordinated by the Interfaith Center of New York and faith congregations including St. Philip's Episcopal Church and St. Mary's Episcopal Church, benefits formerly incarcerated men and women and their families.
