Employees who are HIV positive who want to request a disability accommodation from their employer without revealing their particular condition may do so according to new guidance from EEOC.
Here are some accommodations they may need:
  • Altered break and work schedules such as frequent breaks to rest or use restroom or modified work schedules to accommodate medical appointments
  • accommodations related to visual impairments
  • Ergonomic office furniture, extra padding to accommodate weight loss
  • Unpaid time off for treatments or recuperation
  • Permission to work from home
  • Reassignment of a vacant position if an employee can no longer do the job because of their condition
Obviously if this comes up we will work on this together...just an FYI!
