Global Trends
Employee attraction, retention and engagement are top of the list of global trends and focus.  Focusing on both the employee and leader's (employer's)  perspectives are key to developing strong paths to success that are effective for the long haul.  The key is balance..like anything...balancing both employer and employee perspectives.  JBM facilitates this careful balance through a variety of approaches.  There is NO one size fits all.  Every organization has a culture, within it, "subcultures", being adaptable, responsive and effective at guiding problem solving in a collaborative manner is the key to success.

Attracting/Retaining the best employees...
the most important factors to employees
(Towers Watson, Global Trends study, 2014)
  • Base pay/Salary
  • Job security
  • Career advancement opportunities
  • Trust/confidence in leadership
  • Relationship with supervisor/manager
  • Manage/limit work stress
  • Learning and developing opportunities
  • Challenging work
  • Organization reputation as good employer
  • Paid Time Off

Employers tend to have some similar viewpoints but they tend to include mission, vision and values.  Employees do not seem to have those as a focus.  Regardless, when working with employee groups, we use mission, vision and values as a guide to blend with the employee focus to ensure there is clear alignment.  Working with relationships, trust in leadership and improving the work environment to reduce stress, improve morale, improving performance/customer experience and a positive workplace setting are key to JBM's approach.

The important focus is to ensure employees feel "attached" and develop a feeling of ownership to the changes that need to take place.  Ensuring employees are given the time to dedicate to influencing change and creating  opportunities to create an environment that supports a strong, viable workforce resolving employee concerns, supporting their desires and well being will naturally result in a strong, dedicated workforce!
