Be Thankful ....
Greetings!
 We hear all the time our employees are our most valuable assets.  But what do we do to show that we "value" them?  It isn't about the  money but rather it IS about how we treat them, the work environment is safe, respectful and nurturing.  How do we show we care and keep employees motivated?  It's simple!
 
As people we have basic needs..be respected, valued, obtain feedback and open communications.  Is that how your employees would describe their work experience?  
 
Consider some of the following: 
Employee Engagement 
ASK your employees for feedback on a variety of issues, organization changes, policies etc. LISTEN to their input and make sure you make every effort to consider it.  FOLLOW UP...with the results of the feedback they provided.   

Regular Communications - conduct regular meetings...AND you do have the time..you have to make the time because it makes a huge difference..
 
 If you do not include your employees in regular communications, how do you expect them to optimally perform? How do you keep them engaged and feeling a part of your organization...How do they know if important changes were made?  

Performance Reviews
 
Employees NEED and WANT feedback. It is the MOST IMPORTANT role of any leader. Employees feel valued when they know you care enough to help them develop.  Take the time to do such evaluations objectively and thoroughly..your performance depends on it as well! When performance is poor, all eyes are on leaders because it is that level that can and should be helping them improve. 
 
Scan the Work Environment
Is  the workplace free of tension and conflict?
Is the physical environment well lit, clean, noise controlled, safe?

These are just a few of the items that you need to consider...remember it is the simple things that show you care, create loyal, high performing employees that become extremely "valuable assets"!
