Greetings!
Social Media has to be part of your strategic planning. Such methods of getting your message out there in an effective, concise manner is key. Controlling use of such vehicles is key to ensuring the "correct" message is out there clearly expressing your "brand". Social Media Governance is very important to formally address as well!
How can such vehicles enhance organization/business strategy? |
USING SOCIAL MEDIA... We know that relationship building is important in order to develop meaningful, long lasting business relationships. There are people you will "meet" on social media that you would otherwise never know. This method of expanding relationship development has no end. Strategically using social media is the name of the game.
Some businesses have found using social media extremely helpful for such things as:
- Recruitment
- Networking
- Branding
- Marketing
- Collaboration
- Expanding knowledge
- Inter organizational communication
- Team bonding, especially if in different locations
- Improved communications
The idea is to focus on strategic initiatives first, then decide how technology could enhance your goals. Rethinking how functions are handled now and what might be better if "different". Being flexible and open to change is the name of the game.
As a small business owner I have found social media to be very important. It is a highly effective way to get my messages "out there" in a cost effective, time efficient manner. I utilize it to support my mission of "educating the workworld" and in turn it becomes valuable for many of those that are connected with me. My personal preferences are facebook, twitter and Linked In. With so many budgets cut due to the economy, technology has provided us with options that are endless.
If you have not considered social media and the value as of yet, I would strongly suggest you put this back as a priority strategic initiative. When an organization isn't "present" on social media, individuals question their progressiveness and may not be as interested in working with or for them.
There are many formal training options out there to help learn about working through all of the social media options. I would highly recommend serious consideration be taken into learning more about how your particular organization can benefit and "stay in the game"!
