Know Thyself to Change Your Habits
Do you think you can change your habits?  Taking Gretchen Rubin's Four Tendencies Quiz will help you develop strategies to master habits based on your type.  The four types are based on meeting or resisting external and internal expectations: Upholders, Questioners, Rebels and Obligers.  Try the weekly Power Hour for tackling nagging tasks like donating items to a thrift shop or organizing photos for an hour to chip away at your list of long-term chores. Each chapter begins with an inspiring quote from such greats as William James, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Seneca ("Associate with people who are likely to improve you.")

The TI-34 Multiview Calculator
The TI-34 Multiview is a great middle school calculator that's easy on the wallet at only $20.  It is straightforward to use and has a bright clear screen that allows you to see multiple calculations at a time.  The amazing features include fraction simplification and a percent button that converts decimal to percent and back to decimal again.  It turns mixed numbers into improper fractions and vice versa and has some basic statistics capability as well as trig functions and scientific notation.
