As the cost of prescription drugs continues to rise, employer-sponsored health plans are motivated to find ways to control their associated costs, not only for their own bottom lines, but to help control costs for all consumers/plans. Despite implementing effective plan designs that encourage cost-conscious consumer behavior (i.e., selecting lower-cost generic/non-brand name alternative drugs), costs continue to rise.
