A Congregational Meeting on October 11
All members are encouraged to attend a congregational meeting that has been called by the Session of Fourth Church for this Sunday, October 11 in the Sanctuary at 12:15 p.m.

At the meeting, the congregation will act to dissolve the pastoral relationship between Joyce Shin and Fourth Church so that she might assume her new position at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church as that congregation's Pastor and Head of Staff.

Time:
     Sunday, October 11, 12:15 p.m.

Place:
     Sanctuary

This Sunday is also Joyce Shin's last Sunday at Fourth Church as she prepares to move into her new call at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church.

Following the congregational meeting, we will host a special Coffee Hour reception in celebration of Joyce's ministry among us. Please come join us in sharing with Joyce, Michael, and Sophia how deeply grateful we are for all that their presence among us has meant--and to wish them Godspeed on this new chapter in their lives!

Please note that this Sunday's Young Adults Gathering has been canceled, as has the "Thinking Theologically" Academy for Faith and Life class--the latter of which will instead meet for two hours next Sunday--so that its participants may attend this festive reception.

Time:
     Sunday, October 11, 12:30 p.m.

Place:
     Anderson Hall

fourGive. Grow. Become!
This week, 2016 Annual Appeal materials were sent to member homes, with an invitation from Shannon Kershner to--in this giving season--consider how we might together grow through our giving, as we think deeply about how God's claim on us and love for us shapes our lives.

It is when we do that that we become transformed in our relationship to God, in our identity as Christians, and in the work we do together as Fourth Church and Chicago Lights.

If you weren't able to be with us this past Sunday, Shannon's sermon "Why We Give an Offering"--a reminder that our giving is as an act of worship and gratitude--is posted online.

Also online is information about the 2016 Annual Appeal for Fourth Presbyterian Church and Chicago Lights--www.fourthchurch.org/giving/appeal--which includes an option for online pledging.

Join us as together we Give. Grow. Become!

Commitment Sunday is November 1, 2015.

From June 27 to July 6, participants will tour cities such as York, Durham, and Edinburgh, where the Fourth Church choir will sing informal recitals. The tour includes a choir concert at St. Giles' Cathedral, where Calum MacLeod is Minister.

Those interested in taking part in this musical trip are invited to attend an information session this Sunday, October 11 at 12:45 p.m. in Room 4G, pick up a brochure from the literature racks, or visit the Fourth Church website.

As work on the pipe organ project continues, we are preparing to move the organ console into the choir loft. In the meantime, you can glimpse the new console--which is currently protectively stored in Borwell Dining Room--by looking through the Borwell windows from the Walter Family Courtyard.
