This past week staff from Quimby Pipe Organs arrived from Warrensburg, Missouri, with the first two truckloads of materials for Fourth Church's rebuilt pipe organ.
Over the next several months, Quimby's crew will be installing the instrument's 8,000 pipes in the pipe chambers, as we look toward celebrating the completed instrument in Advent.
We've been sharing photos on Facebook from the installation work this week, so be sure to check them out (you don't need a Facebook account to view them). If you have an account and don't already "Like" us on Facebook, be sure to do so so you don't miss any photos or updates as this exciting work progresses!

Volunteer Opportunities Also Available
|
We're preparing to distribute school supplies and filled backpacks for children and youth connected with the Chicago Lights Urban Farm this coming week--and we still need your help!
Donations for the annual School Supply Drive, organized by Presbyterian Women, are being collected at morning Coffee Hour on Sundays and at the reception desk during the week. Plastic supply boxes, assignment notebooks, black pens, colored pencils, and folders are especially needed.
We also need volunteers to inventory backpacks and supplies on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 11, 12, and 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.; take backpacks to the Urban Farm (444 W. Chicago Avenue) on Friday, August 14 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.; or distribute supplies at the Urban Farm on Friday, August 14 from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
For more information about how you can help, stop by Coffee Hour this Sunday or visit the School Supply Drive web page.
