Welcome, Layton!
|
Two-Year Residency Begins Today
|
Today Layton Williams joined the Fourth Church staff, as our new Pastoral Resident!
Layton grew up in Atlanta and went to college at the University of Georgia, where she majored in English and minored in theater. After college she moved out to Austin, Texas, where she served as an AmeriCorps volunteer and spent three years working with middle and high school students as a nonprofit educator. She then attended Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, from which she received her M.Div. this spring.
As she writes, "I have particular passions for theology, teaching, preaching, writing, storytelling, and justice work. I'm deeply invested in the question of how our worship and theology are intertwined with our call to justice and community--and where the church within the walls meets the church beyond the walls. I can't wait to meet all of you!"
In the weeks ahead, please greet Layton and give her a warm Fourth Church welcome!

Ministering to Immigrant Children
|
A Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Offering
|
Thousands of immigrant children are flooding to our country to escape dire conditions in Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. On Sunday, August 10, Fourth Church will receive a special offering to support the efforts of the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) to minister to them. PDA is supporting Presbyterian churches and PC(USA) mid-councils as they provide a compassionate response to the children's needs.
You can also contribute to this offering online or by mailing a check directly to the Presbyterian Church (USA), P.O. Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700 (designated to DR000095-Refugee Emergencies).
