twoCandlelit Taiz Tonight
A Service of Meditation and Reflection

A service in the style of Taiz, which incorporates prayer, singing, and silent reflection, will take place tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Buchanan Chapel.

The Taiz service provides an opportunity to gather in a contemplative, prayerful setting at the end of a busy week. Candles; easy-to-learn songs from various countries, traditions, and languages; and a period of silence all contribute to a time to reflect and to open oneself to God.

Time:

     Friday, June 27, 7:30 p.m.

Place:

     Buchanan Chapel

threeHave You Walked the Labyrinth?
A Journey of the Spirit toward God
Prior to tonight's Taiz service, there will be opportunity to walk the labyrinth in Anderson Hall between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. In walking the labyrinth, the mind, body, and spirit are together focused on following a single path that leads to and returns from the center, symbolizing a sacred pilgrimage.

The labyrinth that is in Buchanan Chapel is also typically available each week for walking on Mondays from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Walking the labyrinth takes approximately twenty minutes.

Before coming to walk the labyrinth, please check the website calendar or call the church office at 312.787.4570 to confirm that the chapel is not being otherwise used at the time you plan to walk.

Fill a Backpack, Donate Supplies, Volunteer

While it seems like the school year just ended, it's already time to prepare our children and youth for classes this fall.

With some schools beginning in mid-August, we're kicking off this Sunday our annual School Supply Drive, organized by Women@Fourth Connect. Again this year we'll be collecting backpacks and school supplies for children connected with the Chicago Lights Urban Farm, Summer Day, and Tutoring programs.

You can help by signing up to fill a backpack for a child, donating school supplies for the Chicago Lights Tutoring program, or helping receive, sort, and distribute school supplies and backpacks.

Stop by Coffee Hour this Sunday to get a supplies list, sign up to volunteer with the drive, or learn more about the School Supply Drive.

sevenA Special Iftar Dinner at Fourth Church
In Partnership with the Niagara Foundation

Our Interfaith Relations Committee is delighted to be partnering with the Niagara Foundation to cohost next month a special Iftar dinner during Ramadan.

This evening of dialog and friendship will begin with a presentation by Zeki Saritoprak on the role of Jesus in Islam. This presentation is free and open to the public. Dr. Saritoprak's talk will be preceded by opening remarks by Martin Marty.

Afterwards, an Iftar dinner will be held in Anderson Hall. As space is limited, tickets are required for this time of shared meal and fellowship, and they can be purchased at www.bit.ly/NFFPCIftar

We hope you will join us in this special event that is part of the "Sharing the Faith" program. As it provides a window into the diverse worlds of the three Abrahamic traditions during religiously significant seasons, "Sharing the Faith" seeks to raise literacy of each of those faiths, create safe spaces and experiences for reflection, and respectfully showcase each tradition in its uniqueness.

Come share this interfaith meal with us!

Time:

     Saturday, July 19

         6:30 p.m. Presentation

         8:15 p.m. Dinner

Place:
