The CLS Mission Statement

The mission of Cash Lovell Stables is to be a magical place where horse and horse lover come together. We will be the best riding academy in the country, measured by our commitment to safety, honesty, service, excellence in every task, hard work, kindness, an unmatched work ethic, and a commitment to bettering communities near and far. We will innovate constantly and set the standard for the horse industry.

Cash Lovell Stables team members dedicate ourselves every day to our personal families and to our barn family. We are role models for our riders, and loving stewards of our horses. We work every day with God's grandest creatures: His children and His horses. We never forget that this work is a Supreme honor and privilege.

We believe that people who are born loving horses are kindred spirits. We believe that children who learn to ride, care for and show horses grow and learn unparalleled life and leadership skills. We believe that people of all ages live better lives because of the joy our barn and our horses bring.

April is blue

It smells like cake and fresh paint

April tastes like Dr. Pepper and Girl Scout cookies

April is by far the best month

Cash Lovell Stables is home to an amazing new healing program for cancer fighters!

Longtime CLS friend, Lynette Forest, chose our facility as homebase for an unprecedented healing program she is launching. Lynette has battled cancer since age 23. She is still alive, she says, in large part because of being empowered and inspired by horses. Say Neigh To Cancer will provide a safe, nurturing, healing place where cancer fighters and horses can meet and help each other.

Lynette is a PATH International Certified Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor. She's also a Registered nurse, and she is a prosector, holding a Master's Degree in Human Anatomy. She also is Mom to two precious little boys who are CLS riders!

For more information on this incredible program, please visit their website at www.sayneightocancer.org.  Or email Lynette directly at info@sayneightocancer.org.

 Volunteers are needed!

Dear friends,

It's July 4. Sitting in this barn that's never quiet, all I hear are whirring fans and Cooper's sleepy snorts. The babies are gone for the day. The horses are fed. Cashlyn is swimming at a friend's. I sit here trying to write the CLS newsletter, which I've done only one other time this year.

It's not that we've been short of news. This place always brims with activities, projects, lessons, birthday parties, camps, fundraisers and wonderfully stinky-dirty barn babies. As a partner and wife to Cash, I've spent 25 years absorbed with building Cash Lovell Stables. I love it, and I work at it passionately, still.

But I'm tired. The emotional, financial and physical wounds stemming from Cash's dementia are deep and raw. It's been a 10-year battle with an insidious invader that's quietly stolen my world, one brain cell at a time. But throughout, our family has been shown more kindness and support than we could ever repay. Please know how thankful we are.  On our roughest days, we are among the luckiest people in the world.

I've realized that I would be incomplete without this riding school, and the marvelous people it brings into my life. But I also realize that I'm meant to do something more. I don't yet know what that is, or what shape it will take. I'm quietly listening. But I know that I will fight to keep Cash Lovell Stables going as long as I draw breath. And I've come to know that three things will always be at the center of my work here:

  1. Magnificent animals, especially horses, of all shapes, sizes and breeds.
  2. An eclectic range of people, and especially their precious children, of all shapes, sizes, colors and creeds.
  3. A passion to help others grow -- minds, hearts and perspectives-- into world changers.

In recent months, I've watched Cash grow weaker. I've watched Cashlyn grow more beautiful. And I've moved into a new phase of mourning that's taken me deep inside myself. I'm quietly trying to heal my wounds, and searching for the purpose in it all. I find that even when it's excruciating, I'm happy with this soul work. It's cathartic. I'm discovering treasured gifts that grow only from the most wounded places.

California Chrome's jockey tweets a shoutout to a CLS rider!

Jockey Victor Espinoza ain't got nothin' on our precious little Isabel! Clearly, she has Ms. Parker's flair! So proud of Isabel for winning the Most Original category of the 4th of July golf cart parade up in Fancy Gap, Va

This from her mom, Beth:
When Victor Espinoza lost the Belmont on California Chrome, Isabel felt so bad that she wrote him a letter and drew a picture of California Chrome and sent him a picture of herself at a show and she wrote Victor's name in her artistic way with curly Q's and such. I looked for his address on line thinking it would be no big deal to find it. I looked and looked and could not find it anywhere! I finally contacted the Los Alamitos track in CA where Cali Chrome is trained.....I sent an email to the marketing dept and 5 minutes later they sent me his address. THEN, last week when Isabel was getting her hair cut, and I was bored and
playing with my phone, I happened to go on Twitter (not really sure how Twitter works but I started following Victor when he was riding in the Kentucky Derby)...low and behold he had taken a picture of what she had sent him and put it on Twitter and shouted out a Thank You! She was over the moon!

Click here to follow Victor on Twitter!
