The Week of October 26, 2014
~This Week's Message~
When The Bad Guys Seem To Get All The Breaks
-Psalm 73-

As we go through challenging times in our lives, we can look around and wonder why it seems we get "hammered" and the really awful people just seem to get all the breaks. However, in your walk with God, you realize that life is very fleeting and you must find peace in a broken world of so much injustice and pain and realize that a far more serious future awaits those apart from God.

~Coffee Break~

Coffee Break, a non-denominational, inductive Bible study meets Wednesday at 9:30 am. This year we have a Young Mother's Bible Study Group and babysitting is provided. For more information, please contact Arlene Emde or Starr Hoekstra. All are welcome.

~Sunday School News~

Sunday School is held during the worship service for Kindergarten through 5th grade. The children are excused from worship after the time of Praise and Worship, and led through an excellent curriculum.  We believe this is an exciting time for our children as they gather with other children their age. If you have any questions, please contact Judy Bury or Pastor Howard.

~Adult Sunday School~

We are studying Ray Vander Laan's video series, "Promised Land."  In each lesson of this study, Vander Laan illuminates the historical, geographical and cultural context of the Bible.  Just as the time and place of our birth and life shapes our journey, so the land and culture of the Hebrew people shaped their story.  In this first volume of Faith Lessons, filmed on location in the Middle East, you will discover how God guided his people to a specific place -the Promise Land- to impact the world both in ancient times and today.

~Prayer Group~

This group is an extension of the Prayer Concerns posted in the weekly bulletin, where the needs of the church and community are lifted up in prayer.  We will meet again on Sunday, November 2 at 9:00 am just before Sunday service in the classroom near the front entrance of church. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

~Evening Bible Study News~

The Men's and Women's Evening Bible Study groups will next meet on October 28.  The women will be studying a book entitled, "Celebrate - Discovering Joy In Life's Ordinary Moments." The groups meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm at the following locations: Men-Fellowship Hall; Women-Church Office.  All are welcome.

~Crop Walk~

Congratulations to the following 14 CROP walkers: Jeff Arnold, Kendall Arnold, Teresa Arnold, Jillian Bury, Matt Bury, Cathy Draayers, Debbie Havidic, Jean Hummel, Sandy Lynch, Sandy (the dog), Marge Vander Wagen, Caroline Werr, Nancy Werr. As soon as the totals are in, you will be informed of how much Church World Service has raised.

~Thanksgiving Service
And Sharing~

Yes, there's a "nip" in the air, which means "Fall is here!" And with Fall, comes the wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. We will be gathering on Wednesday, November 26 at 7:00 pm for our annual Thanksgiving Service. Would you be willing to share a short testimony of thanksgiving? If so, please let Pastor Howard know.
