The Week of August 3, 2014
This Week's Message
"History of the World ~ Part 1"  Daniel 7:1-28

We begin the second half of the book of Daniel - Daniel and his people's future.  Much of these last chapters will deal with the future of Israel and the future of the world.  It requires "careful study" and "careful listening" as the stories now end, and Daniel receives visions and dreams from God about the future.  We will take 2 weeks to look at this chapter.  We will conclude this week by considering how much we are like these ancient people and marvel at the wonder of Biblical prophecy.

Evening Bible Study News
Begins September 9 at 6 pm

The Evening Bible Study groups begin September 9. The Women's Evening Bible Study will meet at Steven's Restaurant in Downers Grove at 6 pm.  The Men's Evening Bible Study will meet at the church for a cookout, also at 6 pm. For the first 5 weeks, the men will be studying the book entitled "Always True" by James Macdonald.  There is a sign up sheet, this week, in the church for those men who are interested so that the correct amount of books may be ordered. The 'regular' Evening Bible Study groups will meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 7 pm at the following   locations: Men: Fellowship Hall; Women: Church Office.  All are welcome.

Coffee Break

Begins Wednesday, September 3 at 9:30 am

Coffee Break, a non-denominational, inductive Bible study begins again on Wednesday, September 3 at 9:30 am.
All are welcome.  This year we will have a Young Mother's Bible Study Group and babysitting will be provided.  For more information, please contact Arlene Emde or Starr Hoekstra.

God's Scandalous Grace
A Study of the Book of Jonah

Pastor Howard will begin a 5-week study on the Book of Jonah beginning September 7.  You are invited to participate in a small group Bible Study and discussion for those 5 weeks, based on those messages.  The groups will meet in various homes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.  You can select an evening that works best for you.  Joining together with others for study, prayer and encouragement is a tremendous blessing.  We hope you will seriously consider this great opportunity.  There are sign up sheets on the table in the sanctuary.

Sunday School News
Teachers Needed

Sunday school will soon be starting, and we need teachers for our younger students.  The materials we use make it VERY easy, and team teaching means you can split the time with someone else. Please prayerfully consider being a part of this vital ministry in our church family, and serving our Lord in this capacity.  Contact Judy Bury if you can help out.

Caring Community Kitchen News
CCK served over 100 people!

We needed to set up extra tables and chairs to seat everyone. Hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, mac and cheese, zucchini casserole and pastries were all eaten. Our volunteers handled the crowd with joy. Pray that we can continue to "feed the hungry" and be Christ to them.
