"The King is Coming" ~ Mark 11:1-10

"The King is Coming" - It was a glorious, joyful day when Jesus arrived in Jerusalem for Palm Sunday right in the middle of Passover Celebrations. The people cried out "Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"  It will be a glorious, joyful day when Jesus returns in the clouds of the sky for His second coming.  We will share in the excitement of both of those events as we focus on the Triumphal Entry of Jesus.  Come and rejoice!  Come and celebrate!

Many people make great things happen.  I would like to thank everyone who made my ordination such a meaningful and memorable event on March 29.  Thank you. Thank you. I hold you all warmly in my heart. Marge

On Wednesday, April 9, we had 85 happy diners at CCK. They ate vegetable tomato soup, turkey tetrazzini, fish, Filipino pancit, steamed vegetables, rice, lettuce salad, and Panera bread and desserts. Our big need is for salad dressings: Italian, Ranch, French, etc. Please bring salad dressings in the next two weeks. Thank you, thank you for all your support. The CCK Crew.

Thank you to all who helped make the Ladies Tea a success.  We had 70 paid attendees and have some extra funds to be given away. 8 of the participants were from the community via the flyers or newspaper announcements. Beautiful tables, scrumptious food, delightful pastries, Sally Miller who inspired us and Doreen DeZur who soothed us with her music. It was a time of fellowship and assurance that God is with us walking, waiting and winging. Thank you. 

This group will be an extension of the Prayer List in the weekly bulletin, where needs of the church and community are lifted up in prayer.  Please consider joining them.  The group will meet on April 20 at 8:15 am in the high school classroom near the front entrance.  Have a question or a prayer request? Purchase your Easter Lily in memory of, in honor of or in celebration of someone you love. The cost of the Lily is $14.50.  Fill out the form (click here for a downloadable form) and return it to the office no later than Sunday, April 13. The lilies will be a beautiful decoration in our sanctuary on Easter Sunday, April 20. You can take yours home after the Easter Worship Service. 

If you are interested in joining DGCC, there will be a Membership Discovery Class on Friday evening, May 2, from 7 to 9:30 pm.  Those interested should sign up on the sheet located in the Sanctuary.

Join us for a new discussion group led by Pastor Howard Hoekstra.  The three-part series will meet on Wednesdays beginning April 30 at 7 pm and Saturdays beginning on May 3 at 9 am in the church office  Based on a book by the same name, Pastor Howard will engage participants to choose joy in the midst of life's pains and struggles.  The author, Tim Hansel, starts out by saying, "I want this book to offer some hope to those who suffer, for whatever reason, but I don't intend it as 'advice'."  Those interested should grab a book which will be available on Easter Sunday.
