Greetings!
It's a VERY crowded ballot in the City this November - more than 40 state and ballot measures, and more than a dozen candidate elections, with absentee ballots arriving in about ten weeks! Please join us next Tuesday, August 2nd for debates and discussions, and our first endorsement votes for the November 8th general election. You're invited for some fun too: the Annual "Shop Local" Silent Auction & Party on Saturday, August 27.

Next Tuesday: ENDORSEMANIA begins!
| |
November 8th is about a lot more than Hillary Clinton vs. the toxic clown car of today's Republican Party. There are 17 state ballot measures (and more than two dozen local measures on the way) and candidate races throughout the state, Bay Area, and the City. As always, PHDC has you covered. For Tuesday, August 2nd, we will be your living Ballotpedia for the Senate race (Harris vs. Sanchez) and the state ballot measures, with (brief) pros and cons for every issue and a forum with candidate representatives. Some of the less controversial state measures will have written arguments from PHDC board members (available by the middle of this week) so we can have more time for discussion with our Club's chatty members in the audience. Voting members' ballots are due at the end of the meeting, and will be counted immediately.(We will have two endorsement meetings in September for San Francisco candidates and measures.)
WHEN: Tuesday, August 2nd, 7:00 pmWHERE: Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St

Our Voting Process
| |
To vote on endorsements, all voting members are required to have attended at least two PHDC-sponsored meetings or other events during the past year. Absentee ballots are allowed (see below), but in order to vote absentee, you must be a voting member whose dues are paid and who has already attended two meetings in the past year. Request an absentee ballot by replying to this email.
Voting Eligibility
If you are a PHDC member in good standing* who cannot attend an endorsement meeting, you may email a request that an absentee ballot be sent to you electronically. Please return your ballot in person to a board member; through snail mail to 1459 - 18th St #152 (please send early!); or emailed in pdf format by 4pm the day of the meeting (Tuesday, August 2). * What is good standing?
To be eligible to vote at August and/or September endorsement meetings, you must
● be a resident of Potrero Hill, Dogpatch, Mission Bay or houseboats ; and
● have attended 2 or more meetings or other club-sponsored events during the past year, and ● either be a current/renewing member who has paid 2016 dues at or before the endorsement meeting, OR

To check your dues or attendance record, please reply to this email. More details about voting membership, including boundaries used to determine residency, can be found on the membership page on our web site. |
The Annual Auction - Saturday, August 27

And VP Elections at our next meeting too
We have a bit of Club business with our own election. With Tony Kelly's ascension to the Club presidency, we have a vacant First Vice President slot. PHDC Second VP Robert Boileau is nominated to move over to that slot, and member Kelly Dennehy is nominated for Robert's current position as Second VP. Nominations are still open (just respond to this email with nominations), and will be until the beginning of the August meeting, where we will have a brief election to fill the posts. And, the Auction. The PHDC doorhanger has become a trusted neighborhood guide to Election Day every fall; and the Club's Annual Auction is the way we support the Club and the doorhanger! The Potrero Hill Democratic Club's Annual Party and Shop Local Silent Auction is set for Saturday, August 27 from 6-9 pm at Dogpatch Saloon. Email invitations are coming soon! Come join us for food, drink, jazz, community, and great deals to support neighborhood democracy.
