PHDC NEWSLETTER & party invitation

ISSUE #89  ✧  MAY, 2016
Dear , PHDC logo

My last "meeting" as PHDC president will take place at fun neighborhood dive bar Il Pirata, on Election Night. Whether the election goes the way we want it to that night or not, we will be celebrating our first almost-ten years as a club led by yours truly. And I am deliriously happy that Tony Kelly as 1st V.P. is ready to step up and take the reins.

If you would like to help ensure that my favorite club - under exciting new leadership - can continue to produce excellent programs into the ever-more-expensive future, please consider becoming a member. Thank you!!

It's not that art & politics don't mix* ... I just wanna do more art. I'll still be active in the club - just not out in front.

So, please stop by for a drink (no-host bar) and a snack (on us).
Let's reminisce, look forward, and check out the election returns.

I hope to see you there!

WHEN: Tuesday, June 7, 7pm

What PHDC's been up to lately
PHDC members tabled at Sunday Streets in the Bayview May 1st with some of the Reform Slate candidates for DCCC, doing voter registration and distributing the PHDC slate card.

Members have been precinct-walking in Potrero Hill and Dogpatch, hanging the slate card on Democratic door handles.

We are also distributing No on Prop B window signs and mini-flyers. For a window sign, email Bob or call him at 415-826-6359. The PHDC Executive Committee will publish an op ed opposing Proposition B in the June issue of the Potrero View.

The May 3rd regular meeting featured a presentation by Antonio Arenas of UNITE HERE! Local 2. The union is urging a boycott of the Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf and Le Meridien hotels because of mistreatment of workers and opposition to the union's efforts to organize. Potrero Hill Democratic Club officially supports the boycott.

Featured as well at the meeting were some of PHDC's endorsed DCCC candidates: Alysabeth Alexander, Petra DeJesus, Frances Hsieh, Rafael Mandelman, and Sophie Maxwell discussed the importance of reformers/progressives in improving the functioning and role of the DCCC, then stuck around for an informal meet-and-greet.
