PHDC MEMBERS' NEWSLETTER
ISSUE #81  SEPTEMBER, 2015
Dear , PHDC logo

After three intense and informative meetings featuring candidates and campaigns, PHDC's endorsements for 2015 are complete. Check out our endorsements here.

September was a busy month for our club. With our next meeting on the drought, a possible town hall about Prop I, producing and delivering our slate card/door hanger, tabling at the Potrero HIll Festival and Sunday Streets in the Mission, and Potrero Hill History Night, October's looking pretty active too...

Joni Eisen, President
Tuesday, Oct 6th forum:
The drought and climate change
SF Bay
What is the impact of the worst drought in 1300 years on San Francisco, its residents and the Bay environment?  Are we - San Franciscans, our government, and our water agencies - doing enough to prepare for and deal with drought, especially given the realities of climate change?

Come hear and question the panel on these and other issues related to the current (and future?) drought. Panelists include state as well as local experts on drought, climate change, and the Bay:
  • Jennifer Clary, Water Program Manager, Clean Water Action
  • Barry Nelson, Principal, Western Water Strategies; Bay Conservation and Development Commissioner
  • Adam Scow, California Director, Food and Water Watch

PHDC VP Loretta Lynch will moderate. The event is co-sponsored by San Francisco Tomorrow and San Francisco for Democracy.

When: Tuesday, October 6, 7-9pm
Where: Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St at Southern Heights

End of Life Option Act is on the Governor's desk
The clock is ticking for Jerry Brown to decide whether he will allow ABX2-15 to become law - to give terminally ill adults the option of medical aid in dying. He has until midnight October 7th to sign or veto the bill. If he takes no action by then, the legislation automatically becomes law.

PHDC has endorsed this bill. You can help combat the opposition bombarding the Governor's office with calls and letters asking for a veto, by clicking here to send an email, urging him to sign the bill. Scroll to the very end of the list of subjects to find ABX2-15. You can also send a letter to Governor Jerry Brown, State Capitol, Suite 1173, Sacramento, CA 95814, or call his office at (916) 445-2841.
