Tuesday, August 4th: Candidates duke it out!
|
 The Community College Board candidate forum will include five of the six candidates running for one open seat. Questionnaires from all six will be available to members July 31st.
The Sheriff candidate debate will include incumbent Ross Mirkarimi and challengers Vicki Hennessy and John Robinson. Questionnaires from these candidates will be available to members July 31st. Each candidate event will be moderated by a member of PHDC's Executive Committee, and will allow time for the audience to engage the candidates in Q&A. Members in good standing* will vote on endorsements at the end of the meeting. WHEN: Tuesday, August 4th at 7pm WHERE: Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St @ Southern Heights *Members in good standing, whose 2015 dues are current (new members must have joined PHDC at least 2 months prior to the endorsement meeting), and who have attended at least 2 meetings or other PHDC-sponsored events in the past year, may vote either in person or by absentee ballot.

This fantastic group (above, l. to r., panelists Vanessa Moses, Rheema Calloway, Joe Marshall, Thea Matthews, Stevon Cook; at right, moderator Maxine Anderson) led an honest, forthright and eye-opening discussion. "Incredible," "powerful," and "passionate," said those who were there. Let's try to continue the conversation in our everyday lives.

Medicare is the most financially efficient health insurance system in the U.S., with administrative costs averaging only 2 percent of program outlays. Fifty years ago, Medicare helped lift a generation of seniors out of poverty. It continues to be America's health care solution, providing health care through a single-payer model.
