Tuesday, November 4th: Election Day. No regular PHDC meeting, but LOTS to do from now till then.
Make sure these important campaigns win - in spite of the megabucks being spent against each one of them. The big spenders may even be trying to mislead you. Click on the logos below to read more. Don't let money be the deciding factor.

People actually thank us for delivering PHDC's famous blue door hanger! Front and back views are at left; click below either one to enlarge and read it. Many thanks to the volunteers who've been walking hills and climbing stairs since last weekend to hang them on the doors of permanent absentee voters.

The next round, just before the election (Oct 30th - Nov 3rd), goes to "regular" voters. To join in some vigorous fun and walk a precinct (yours?) in Potrero Hill or Dogpatch, please reply to this email or call 415-648-6740.
October 7th meeting: City College update & request; endorsed candidates & campaigns come to visit

AFT 2121 President Tim Killikelly (left) gave an update on saving City College, and requested that the club endorse the CCSF Bill of Rights.

City College is on trial for its life. The lawsuit that City Attorney Dennis Herrera brought a year ago to keep CCSF open will finally be heard starting Oct 27th and ending on Halloween. You can help keep our community college open and accessible. Pack the courtroom at 400 McAllister, 9am to 4pm, to show the judge that the community cares.
Rsvp here what day & time you can attend to help the organizers keep the courtroom full all week. Here's the Facebook event page.

pookie's bag The rest of the October meeting was devoted to PHDC-endorsed candidates and campaigns. David Campos, Tony Kelly, Daniel Flores, John Rizzo, Shamann Walton, and reps for Betty Yee and several propositions came back to PHDC to speak, distribute campaign swag and invite volunteers. (At right, PHDC's mascot claims her very own Tony Kelly tote bag.) We also signed people up to staff the table at the Potrero Hill Festival, and to walk precincts with the club's slate card/door hanger.

PHDC endorses David Campos & Tony Kelly (center, on 20th St at the Festival) - who also happen to endorse each other.
The 25th Annual Potrero Hill Festival happened this past Saturday, big fun for all. PHDC's booth was right in the middle of the action: registering voters just in time for Monday's deadline, and answering voters' questions about why we endorsed whom and what. We handed out our door-hanger "cheat sheet." The booth was lively with candidates David Campos, Tony Kelly, Daniel Flores, John Rizzo, enthusiastic supporters, and the multi-talented Barry Hermanson for Yes on 45, Yes on H and No on I. Thanks everyone who staffed the booth and came by to visit!

We will again be engaging voters and distributing slate cards and campaign lit this Saturday, Oct 25th at Potrero Hill History Night. The 15th annual event takes place at International Studies Academy, 655 De Haro. 5:30pm: Live music, and food for sale to benefit the school. 7:00pm: Free program.
