Meeting Tuesday, October 7: PHDC-endorsed candidates & campaigns |
PHDC's endorsements are hard-won! Candidates and campaigns have to come up to the Hill to present their cases, often enduring challenges from all sides, and then they have to garner a higher percentage of the vote than they would need to win in November. We truly appreciate the passion and commitment of all the candidates.
On Tuesday, October 7th, we will have a meeting devoted to actively promoting PHDC-endorsed candidates and campaigns. We invite them to say a few words and sign up volunteers. We will also be signing people up to staff the PHDC table at the Potrero Hill Festival October 18th (more about that later), and to walk precincts with our slate card/door hanger. This is truly grassroots democracy. Please join us!
WHEN: Tuesday, October 7 at 7pm WHERE: Potrero Hill Neighborhood House, 953 De Haro St @ Southern Hts

Potrero Hill Festival October 18; precinct walks
|
The 25th Annual Festival takes place Saturday, October 18, from 11am to 4pm on 20th St between Wisconsin and Missouri. PHDC is a proud sponsor of this annual community event, and will have a table there. Please reply to this email to sign up for a shift. We will be registering voters (last chance before the election), promoting our endorsements, and selling our pride-in-the-'hood "94107" t-shirts. PRECINCT-WALKING THE SLATE CARD
People thank us for delivering PHDC's famous blue door hanger! We're working on it now. To join in the fun and walk your precinct in Potrero Hill or Dogpatch, reply to this email or sign up at the next meeting. Thanks!

Following up: "Shop Local" Silent Auction; two September endorsement meetings
|
PHDC's 6th Annual Party & Auction was wonderful - and our best-ever fund raiser. We could not have had such a successful event without the amazing and incredibly generous auction donors - check out the donor list here. Many thanks also to jazzmen Chuck Bennett, Ray Scott and Jim Zimmerman, to Senator Mark Leno for honoring our club with an award (right), to the other electeds and candidates who attended and/or donated lunches (the "Lunch Counter" section of the auction saw some particularly lively bidding), to club members who cooked and donated food and otherwise shared their energy and ideas for this year's production, and to friends old and new who came to the party and put in their bids.
September 2nd and 9th endorsement meetings were also events worth attending. On Sept. 2nd, arguments pro and con for a variety of measures on the November 4th ballot took the form of several mini-debates, plus a sort of political performance art by some board members. The following Tuesday, it was all about candidates: forums of School Board (above) and Community College candidates, and briefly revisiting the Assembly and Superior Court Judge races. Club members voted on endorsements at the end of each evening, and finally PHDC's endorsement list is complete. Look for our endorsements in a quarter-page ad in the October Potrero View! |
