Star Achievers Academy YMCA, in collaboration with the Peninsula Rotary Club and Cooper Elementary Magnet School for Technology, is a unique community partnership which provides innovative programs, tools and resources necessary for the academic and personal success of children.

COOPER IN THE NEWS

Over the past 18 years, the Rotary Club of the Virginia Peninsula and Star Achievers Academy YMCA community partnership has made a difference in the lives of many Hampton students. On Friday, May 31st the Rotary Club of the Virginia Peninsula presented Star Achievers Academy YMCA with a contribution check in the amount of $12,000 for direct support of the summer engineering academy and 5 Standards of Learning (SOL) based Mathematic Clubs.   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

    

 

 

GOLD STAR

Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death among children and every 60 seconds a child drowns and each year more than 600,000 drown.The Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA is dedicated to serving the needs of our communities; part of our Strategic Plan is to provide opportunities for all Peninsula second graders to learn how to swim over the next 10 years.

 

Cooper Elementary School for Technology 2nd graders had the opportunity to participate in the innovative program, Learn to Swim. Lessons took place at the Hampton Family YMCA. In the four-week program, students learned pool rules, character lessons and basic to advanced swim lessons.
