Learn How to Safely Practice

and Instruct Inversions and Learn of Their Beneficial Effects

Kelly Moore and Steven Norber, Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructors and co-owners of Living Yoga, will host the September YTOC monthly event co-sponsored with the Intermountain Iyengar Yoga Association.

A presentation and class will offer information along with an opportunity to experience yoga taught in the Iyengar method.

Iyengar Yoga, named after living yoga master BKS Iyengar who is currently 94 years old, is a path of raja yoga founded on the philosophy of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras - the eight limbed (ashtanga) path.  This method offers a unique experience of asana, and through it, the full range of what yoga has to offer.  Through the outer body alignment we come to find our inner alignment as we connect citta (consciousness) with our body and breath.

The Iyengar method of asana is taught in such a way that yoga is accessible and suitable to all regardless of age, health, or ability.

Kelly Moore was introduced to Iyengar yoga in 1995, inspired during a time of life transition. The experience of yoga brought a sense of grounding, introspection, and bliss. In 2009 Kelly studied with the Iyengar family in Pune, India at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute and with Swati and Rajiv Chanchani at their yoga shala in Rajpur, India in 2006. Kelly is a Certified Iyengar yoga instructor and studies with Leslie Bradley, Craig Kurtz, and many senior Iyengar yoga instructors including Manouso Manos, Nancy Stechert, Francois Raoult, and many others. Kelly currently serves on the board for IMIYA (InterMountain Iyengar Yoga Association) as President, to further the education of the community about the profound benefits of Iyengar Yoga. Kelly, along with her husband Steven, opened "Living Yoga", a yoga studio and wellness center. Kelly enjoys sharing the practice and exploration of this timeless wisdom with students, facilitating self awareness and health in creative and joyous ways.

Additionally, Kelly has a neuromuscular therapy practice, and taught clay anatomy and neuromuscular therapy for many years.

Steven Norber was introduced to yoga as academic study in 1976 during high school. A traumatic brain injury in 1986 moved him ever more inward and eventually led him to France to study with Iyengar teacher Francois Raoult. Through this meeting it became clear to Steven the path of Iyengar yoga had been waiting for him. Following teacher training with Nancy Stechert (where he served as instructor for the anatomy & physiology component) Steven has continued his course of learning through Craig Kurtz and Leslie Bradley's ongoing teacher training program. An Iyengar certified instructor, Steven has studied with the Iyengar's in Pune India, Rajiv and Swati Chanchani in Rajpur India, and attends teacher's classes offered by Manouso Manos and Gloria Goldberg in the United States.

Please contact Steven or Kelly at Living Yoga to reserve your space or for more information.

GreetinShari's Heartsgs Dear Sweet Yogi's,

It's hard to believe that the end of summer is already upon us!  It has all gone by so fast.  What a summer it has been.

September is a big month for YTOC.  At our Annual Members meeting, on 9/14 following our event at Living Yoga, we will elect many new members to the YTOC board of directors.  We are still in need of volunteers to fill Newsletter Editor and Membership Manager board positions.

I personally have learned so much, and met so many wonderful Colorado yogi's, being on the YTOC board.  Wouldn't you like the to be of service to this amazing organization?   Some the ideas for advancing the organization being floated around by the incoming board members are really going to make the next couple of years an exciting time to service to YTOC, so please come on join us!

Those of you who joined us for our retreat at our Nature, Nuture, Self Reflection and Sharing retreat at Sunrise Ranch asked me to share the opening circle reading from the retreat, so here you go ...

Opening Circle:
Before I enter Nature and want to Remember

To feel at home
I come here:
To be empty, silent, still, receptive
I come here:
To be changed to get a new perspective
To find an answer
To heal a wound
To learn
I come here:
To be wild
To be engulfed by wildness an and mystery and wonder
I come here:
To worship, to thank , to praise, to love ~ Ruth Baetz

Those of you who missed the retreat really missed a great opportunity at a truly beautiful place.  So, sorry that you could not be with us.

I was also asked to share the closing circle reading, but I will save that one for next month.  When I write that article it will be to welcome in our new board members, including our brand new YTOC president.

Shanti, Shalom, Salaam
Peace, Peace, Peace

Yours in Service,
