Presenter
Twenty years ago I was an extremely stressed out executive in corporate America with enough of a survival instinct to know that I needed to manage the stress. So, I decided to give yoga a try. As so often happens when the timing is right, I found a yoga class in my neighborhood almost immediately and my passion for yoga was born.
The studio I went to practiced in the Viniyoga tradition which didn't mean much to me at the time. All I knew was that at the end of each class the stress had literally melted away. Over time, I learned about the history and depth of this tradition and the huge role T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar, his son, had in bringing yoga to the Western world. I feel truly lucky to have been introduced to this tradition from the beginning and to study with knowledgeable and passionate teachers. My teachers include Martin and Margaret Pierce, Mary Lou Skelton, River Cummings and Gary Kraftsow in the United States and T.K.V. Desikachar in Chennai, India. Each one reinforced my passion for yoga and my desire to share the physical, mental and emotional benefits with my students.
I left corporate America to fulfill a long time dream of becoming an entrepreneur and yoga played a big role in helping me find the clarity and courage to make the transition. The stresses around starting and running a business are immense and yoga continues to be my link to managing stress and staying grounded and focused.
I became a yoga teacher because of the difference yoga has made in my life. My desire is to help my students create practices that meet their particular interests, needs and abilities and help them live more balanced lives.
