Vedic Chanting:

Transformational Chanting

Vedic texts, the philosophical underpinnings of yoga are written in Sanskrit. Vedic chanting is a tool where we focus on chanting selections from the Vedas, bringing life to the texts. Chanting allows us to discover, express and influence all dimensions of our being. As a practice and study, Vedic Chanting can help to improve mental focus and memory, balance energy, reduce mental and emotional agitation, improve listening, uncover and strengthen our own spiritual connections.

In the workshop, we will explore time honored principles found in the Vedas, practice listening and chanting and integrate the mind and breath.  Simple asana movements will be included to enhance the experience chanting.

Presenter

Hansa is an ongoing student of Yoga.  She utilizes yoga, yoga cikitsa, ayurveda and massage in her practice.  She owns the PranaYoga and Ayurveda Mandala in Denver where she teaches yoga classes, yoga teacher and yoga therapy trainings.  Hansa is a past president of Yoga Teachers Of Colorado and continues to serve the yoga community through serving on Yoga Boards.

Greetings Dear Sweet Yogi's,

Happy Spring to all of you!  We have an amazing line up of events scheduled for this spring and summer season. Details about monthly YTOC events are now being posted to the website as soon as we can get them up there, so please visit the website for details about upcoming events. Event attendance has been up lately and we hope to keep it that way. Be sure you mark your calendars for the dates that we have events scheduled for in the coming months.

Yoga for the Peaceful in Crested Butte is our current Featured Studio, and Gary Schroeder is our Featured Teacher. Have you visited the website and read these interviews yet?  We would love to have you post your comments on them. There's a Post a Comment space at the bottom of each interview.

We are very excited to announce the addition of Suzi Cameron to our board as Member-At-Large. Suzi is a new yoga teacher that found her first teaching job through YTOC. Below is her story about that, which is also on our BLOG.
As my Yoga Teacher Training was ending, I received an email from a fellow trainee who had seen a post for a teacher opening on the YTOC website.  I decided to apply, never dreaming that I would actually get a job as new and inexperienced as I was.  After applying, I was called in for an interview and much to my surprise, I was offered the job.  Talk about being on cloud 9...wow!  It was probably one of the most exciting days of my life!  Not only  to be able to share not only my new found knowledge but also to be able to share my love for yoga.  Of course, I went home and immediately joined YTOC and have never looked back.  Although that first class as a paid instructor was SO scary, it was so wonderful,  invigorating and reinforced my decision about training and joining YTOC.

It's been a gain some, loose some time for us. I am sad to announce that Casey Feicht, our Social Media Manager, made the decision to step down from her board position. We are all very sad to see Casey go. We are grateful to her for her efforts and contributions to the YTOC board. If you, or anyone you know, is social media savvy and would be willing to step into this position please email me at: president@ytoc.org

I hope that the spring season greets you with freshness and renewal. May you blossom and glow with grace and dignity, clearing away anything that no longer serves you.

Shanti, Shalom, Salaam
Peace, Peace, Peace

Yours in Service,

Yoga is not about being bendy..

It is about showing up to your consistently not knowing what is going to happen and being ok with that.
It's about rehabilitating yourself and not believing the 'experts' when they say your are too injured or too old.
It' about believing that you can do anything even if it's the most scariest impossible thing you could ever dream of.
It's about uncovering who you really are.
It's about being kind to yourself so that you can be kind to others.
Yoga is about discovering that most of the crazy thoughts in your head are not true.
It's about being healthy without pushing yourself to your limit.
It's about slowing down to get strong.
It's about breathing and moving and smiling on the inside.
It's the hardest thing I have ever done, but also the best.
