Reflection:  Simplicity Itself

When it comes down to it, the basic ideas of Unitarian Universalism can be summed up rather simply:

Love is the spirit of this church, and service its law.
This is our great covenant:
To dwell together in peace,
To seek the truth in love,
And to help one another.
          - James Vila Blake, UU Minister

Join us this Sunday for a service that embodies simplicity itself:
lighting the chalice, ringing the bell, time for reflection, joys and sorrows, and a short teaching on how we might, simply, return to love.

In blessing-
Rabbi Chava

Sunday Service
November 22 (one service only)
10:30 a.m. - "Simplicity Itself" - Rabbi Chava Bahle
It is the custom of this congregation to gather at Twin Lakes' Gilbert Lodge on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  On this morning we will first gather at UUCGT and share a service that is simplicity itself.

Please Note:  On November 29 at 9:00 a.m., we will finish our series, "A Brief History of Unitarian Universalism."  Contemplative Meditation will return in December.
This Sunday for Children and Youth
No 9:00 a.m. programming for children or youth.  Nursery Care for children ages 4 and under is available at the 10:30 a.m. service.

As so many of us will be making the preparations for the Twin Lakes Thanksgiving celebration, there will be no children's programming this week.  Children are invited to remain in the service with their parents.  We hope to see you all out at Twin Lakes!

NOTE FOR FAMILIES REGARDING TWIN LAKES!
We will be sharing Story Wisdom beginning at 12:30pm.  Please join us for this lovely time of sharing.

New Winter Service Project for Lifespan Education!

We will launch this winter service project at our
Twin Lakes Thanksgiving gathering!

As was mentioned in the Beacon this month, this year our winter service project will take a new turn as we look for ways to make a difference, while finding opportunities to teach our children about the spirit of giving.  Family lives have become increasingly busy in recent years, and as a result, the Women's Resource Center Toy program has fallen on the shoulders of a handful of adults.  Given this, the Lifespan Experience Committee began exploring the hiatus of the WRC Toy project last year.  At this time, we will be giving this project a break, and perhaps we will revisit it again in the future.  We began communication with the WRC regarding this last year, and recently confirmed that the center does in fact have a great many other donations of toys to draw upon at this time.

This winter we will be focusing our attentions on the creation of a "Heifer Tree" - with proceeds to support the work of Heifer International (http://www.heifer.org/).  Please continue to watch your Flash for greater details.
