We are trying to make the reader format to E-news more user-friendly. We want to try to reduce the amount of scrolling-down. After Easter we will experiment again with two column format. A change to the format of my weekly recap, sometime referred to as an epistle, will give you an short introduction and then refer you via a link to the full text on our website. This way we hope to condense the appearance of the E-news page.

The Weekly Epistle
The Sunday after Easter is traditionally known as Low Sunday. It's not clear why it's so called. Maybe it is in contrast to the high festival of Easter, or it could be a corruption of the Latin Laudes, the first word of the Gospel hymn in the old English (Sarum) Rite. I associate it to the low attendance in church on this Sunday. In any case, Low Sunday is when we are going to start our community reading of The Story - the Bible edited in the form of a novel.

A message from the Director of Christian Formation

On Sunday, to help kick off this program, we are going have an inter-generational class in the Great Hall. Using Legos to respond to a Bible story is an excellent way to build on (pardon the pun) our reading and experience of Scripture, and it is what the kids have been doing regularly in KidZone this year. But why should they have all the fun?

Please join us for a time of story, pondering and play with fellow parishioners and theologians of all ages. I look forward to seeing and creating with you!

Linda

Happy Easter from Episcopal Charities
Progress Report
Due to the generosity of those who have pledged so far, we are well over halfway to our monetary goal of $18,000.  However, we need more people pledging.  Please consider making a charitable donation to Episcopal Charities this year.  Any gift, regardless of amount, helps to positively  change a life.

We will be manning a table in the Great Hall this week and next.  Please stop by.

Thanks! Kurt Loell, Episcopal Charities 2016 chair
