St. Martin's Church

An excerpt from Junior Warden Sean Mulholland's remarks
this past Sunday:

On behalf of Father Mark, Senior Warden Elizabeth Welshman, and the Vestry, I am here to encourage you to come to the financial planning event we are co-hosting with Thrivent this Sunday, May 17.

A number of parishioners have asked about retirement and estate planning. How do we ensure a vibrant financial future? One that enables you to care for your needs and the needs of your loved ones. With this in mind, St. Martin's has established relationships with two financial planning organizations: Rhode Island Foundation and Thrivent.

Once you have a plan about your future, you are able to think about other, innovative ways of supporting causes and organizations you hold dear.

For example: Let's say you usually give $1000 a year. An alternative would be to give a one time, endowed gift of $20,000. By specifying it as an endowed gift, St. Martin's will never spend the principle. And thus each year your endowed gift will generate approximately $1000. By making an endowed pledge today, you no longer need to make annual pledges. (Though we would welcome any additional support).

An endowed gift also enables you to support St. Martin's after your death, because the gift will continue to provide $1000 a year, forever!

By making an endowed gift today, you are providing for

St. Martin's current programs, and its programs in the future. Both Thrivent and Rhode Island Foundation are organizations that can help you think about whether this option or a myriad of other options might be right for you. Thank you.
