April 11                                                                 Mark 10:32-45

WE ARE nearing the end of our Lenten journey; the Lord Jesus is coming to the end of his time,  "on the road", Mark says,  "going up to Jerusalem" the  Gospel reports. Time is short, only major, decisive issues belong.  What would  those issues be for religion? What is the one question you would lay before God should you have

God's ear?

"What must I do?"  What can You do?  What difference does any of it make to You, for me, for us?  Jesus' answer to the rich young ruler may strike you unrealistic, his response to James and John  may put you off, his answer for and about himself  deflate more.

Whatever language you or I use, religion in Jesus' terms is about what you give not what you get, RELIGION is that, it is about what you do with what happens  not  how  you feel about that happening. I am told it is a foolish person who pays no attention to the outcome, the success of his/her actions.  Such foolishness is exactly what keeps the world human.   Me too.
