Yom HaShoah Commemoration: This year we will focus on the difficulties we sometimes face in confronting commands that we find to be in conflict with our moral conscience. Included will be a discussion on the wisdom handed down from our Jewish tradition in facing dilemmas that involve a choice to obey or to disobey - or at least to challenge, as Abraham did regarding Sodom. Our program will be on Sunday, April 27 at 7:30 PM.

We will present penetrating questions for small group discussions on the subject of disobedience in light of the Shoah, to be followed by reports of the group representatives. Our Rabbis will summarize the essays by the 7th grade class of our Religious School, based upon their study of the Shoah under the direction of Rabbi Fel and Susan Cook. Music will be presented by the Mak'haylah under the direction of Leon Gunther. Click HERE for details.

Temple Emunah Notes and Announcements

ANOTHER SEASON, ANOTHER REASON to go to the Lexington Interfaith Garden. We have begun our 5th year of growing and distributing food via the Lexington Food Pantry. In each of the past two years we have brought about 1600 lbs. of food for those in need!

We have now completed general cleanup of the garden, as well as soil preparation and initial weeding, will now move on to planting, more weeding and harvesting. This is all done under the expert direction of our head gardener, so no gardening knowledge is needed. Temple Emunah is assigned to work two Tuesdays a month, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Our upcoming spring dates are April 29, May 13 & 27, June 10 & 17 and July 1. The garden is located just across from the Lexington Green. If you would like more information or want to participate please contact Larry Marin at 781-861-7855 or [email protected]

A Rare Opportunity: As we approach the Festival of Passover, I am reminded that we read in the Haggadah that it is incumbent upon us that we reach out to those wrongly imprisoned, that we feed the hungry and that we do so with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. Within the next few days, a family will be arriving from Darfur in the Sudan, and we can help them! Please Click HERE for more information.

Join the Walk Against Genocide! On Sunday, April 13, many will gather at the Armenian Heritage Park to observe Genocide Prevention Month

Shabbat Service Buddies: Would you like to be more comfortable participating in the Shabbat morning service? Do you often have questions about what is going on? Temple Emunah is starting an exciting new program to match you with your own service buddy! For more information, click HERE or contact Jill Wollins.

Support Temple Emunah's Second Harvest Program! Just 15 minutes away from Piper Rd is a very different world. Please join us as we participate in an important mitzvah when we bring our leftover food to the Middlesex Soup Kitchen on Moody St in Waltham! Each week volunteers deliver food on Sunday afternoon, which takes less than an hour. Kids can help load the food and this is a wonderful way to encourage them to participate in a mitzvah! If you are interested in signing up for a delivery, please email Bob Halperin at [email protected]

Be a Shabbat Morning Greeter! We are looking for people who are willing to act as a greeter on Shabbat mornings in the downstairs lobby. If you are interested in participating in this initiative, please click HERE and sign up on our google doc!

Family Table needs your help! We need Brown Rice and Whole Wheat Crackers for Jewish Family and Children's Services deliveries each month. Please help us meet our commitment to collect and deliver 110 boxes of rice and 110 boxes of crackers each month to JF&CS.

The Kitchen Committee always welcomes volunteers to help in the kitchen for Shabbat and Festival Kiddushim. To help, email Janet Goldberg or call her at 617-489-7175.
