Winner of the Tony® Award for Best Play and the Academy Award® for Best Film, this provocative work weaves a confrontation between mediocrity and genius into a tale of breathtaking dramatic power. In the court of the Austrian Emperor Josef, Antonio Salieri is the established composer. Salieri has given himself to God so that he might realize his sole ambition to be a great composer, yet Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart -- the greatest musical genius of all time -- is a foul-mouthed, graceless oaf who has that which lies far beyond Salieri's envious grasp: genius. ~ RATED PG-13

Member Spotlight:  Devery Holmes

Devery Holmes is an Honorary Life Member of The Conejo Players and a proud Golden Sweatshirt recipient. She and her husband Jim came to the theatre when they were just married and had moved to the Conejo Valley. With an audition notice for Evita, their wonderful relationship with Conejo Players began!

"When Jim and I first came to the Players to audition, we heard the director say in a whisper, 'Oh no, a husband and wife team -- do we have to cast them both?' Well, he did, and changed our lives forever! That director taught me to direct and produce, and shared his passion for the theater that was contagious, as he directed the magnificent production of 'Evita' ... Our best friends and experiences have come from this very special place. We raised our children, literally, at the theatre, and they learned everything a parent could hope for: teamwork, hard work, working for a goal, trying your best, and having the courage to 'go for it'! We are so thankful for this special place!"

Devery has been involved in many capacities at the Players: Actor, Producer, Costumer, Prop Mistress, Director, Set Painter, and Usher Coordinator. Favorite productions include: EvitaCamelotAgnes of GodThe Secret GardenThe Baby DanceMe and My GirlBIG: The MusicalAnnie Get Your GunGypsyHouse of Blue LeavesJerry's GirlsBABYThe WomenOnce Upon a Mattress, Thoroughly Modern MillieForever Plaid, and most recently, director of CPT's The Wizard of Oz, opening March 11th!

In Memoriam:

It is with heavy hearts that we report on the passing of Gerda Fadden, an Honorary Life Member of the theatre and a longtime Conejo Players stalwart.

Gerda was the Secretary for CPT for over 18 years, and was named Director Emeritus upon her retirement. Her first speaking role was in our 1975 production of Picnic; she also appeared as a dancer in The King and I, Brigadoon, Guys and Dolls, and many more. All told, she performed in over 15 productions, and worked backstage on numerous others. She was honored with a whopping 38 Harlequin Awards, and spent the last few years as CPT's Archivist.

She was a rare talent -- always ready to help out where she could. She always glowed with confidence, and with compassion for everyone she met. She faced the world with optimism and love, which ensured everything ran better ... because of her! She will be missed by the entire CPT community.
