Eugene Jerome dreams of baseball and girls ... but in his everyday life, he has to cope with the mundane existence of family life in Brooklyn: a formidable mother, an overworked father, and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his widowed Aunt Blanche, and her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters, and you have a recipe for hilarity -- served up Neil Simon style! This bittersweet memoir evocatively captures the life of a struggling Jewish household where, as Jerome's father states, "If you didn't have a problem, you wouldn't be living here." The New York Daily News calls it the "funniest, richest, and consequently the most affecting of [Simon's] plays." ~ RATED PG-13

All those auditioning will participate in the vocal and dance portions; please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for choreography. A tap dance audition will also be held during auditions for roles where this skill is preferred -- but please do not let this prevent you from auditioning. If you are asked to tap, we just ask that you do your best. (This is NOT a tap-heavy musical.)

Plot summary: Power, ambition, greed ... it's just another day at the office! From the authors of Guys and Dolls comes one of the most delightfully irreverent musicals of all time. J. Pierrepont Finch uses a little "how-to" handbook to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive -- tackling such familiar but potent dangers as the aggressively compliant "company man"; the office party; backstabbing co-workers; caffeine addiction; and, of course, true love. Winner of the 1962 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, this delightful musical melds wit, comedy, and romance together to hilarious perfection. ~ RATED PG-13

Member Spotlight: Jeremy Zeller

My love of theater began when I was 8 or 9 years old, when every year I would "take" my grandma to go see The Nutcracker ballet at the Civic Arts Plaza. I don't ever remember enjoying the ballet, but I fell in love with the music. I would play the orchestration over and over on my mom's stereo -- spinning in circles to Tchaikovsky's character dances, specifically "Polchinelle" (the clown), until I was so dizzy I would fall down.

A few years later, I began my formal training in piano -- and by high school, I was performing weekly in a band, rockin' the keyboard. Around the same time, my passion for the theater redeveloped and I started the slow climb to the stage. At first I was an usher, then I worked back stage, and finally developed the courage to audition, getting my first role as the Constable in Our Town, followed by the role of David Bliss in Noel Coward's Hay Fever.

After high school I went to college, and my activities focused themselves down to three, Live Sound, Rock Keyboard, and being funny. Playing Keyboard stayed mostly on Sunday mornings at church, and Live Sound led me to Conejo Players Theatre.

My first show at CPT was The Rocky Horror Show, and after that I had caught the theater bug. Other Conejo Players projects I've had the pleasure of working on include Sorry, Wrong Chimney, Singin' in the Rain, Miss Saigon, Spamalot and Shrek, The Musical. Currently I work on the board as the Executive Technical Director, making sure all the technical equipment is well cared for, and I still run sound from time to time.

After I graduated from UCSB with my BA in Sociology and an AA in Journalism, I developed an improv group with a colleague of mine, Tim Kanter. We started Clean Up Comedy as a way to bring joy and laughter to those that are hurting, as well as show that you don't have to be dirty to be funny. In February 2012, Clean Up Comedy performed its first show. At the time I had no idea that we would perform hundreds of shows in three years, let alone tour the country three times and travel internationally doing clean improv comedy. Now, I'm developing a version of that show for The Conejo Players, which brings us to today.

Please come and check out my exciting new project! The Conejo Improv Players presents a hilarious night of improvisational comedy featuring skits, scenes, and music -- made up entirely on the spot from audience suggestions. Enjoy an evening of interactive comedy that blends the comedic stylings of Whose Line is it Anyway? and Saturday Night Live in a hilarious show you won't want to miss.
