The Conejo Players to be Honored by Ventura County Arts Council
at the Art Stars Awards Gala
|

Conejo Players Theatre will be honored at the Art STARS Awards banquet -- a gala event to be held at the Tower Club in Oxnard on October 9 -- for significant contributions to the arts in Ventura County in 2013. Conejo Players is being recognized in the category of "Nonprofit Arts Organization"; other categories receiving recognition for contributing to the arts include "Individual Artist," "Arts Philanthropist," "Arts Education," and "Public Agency Serving the Arts."
A review panel was charged with the challenging task of reviewing nominations and making recommendations to the Ventura County Arts Council Board, which approved the final selection of winners. The panel received a very compelling nomination packet for CPT which outlined the organization's 50+ years of providing quality, affordable live entertainment to the community.
At the awards ceremony, The Conejo Players will be presented with an original work of art commissioned by the VCAC from renowned Ventura County artist John Suttman. VCAC President, Todd Collart, recently stated that "the Arts Council is honored to acknowledge the contributions the Conejo Players Theatre has made to Ventura County's cultural life and are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize CPT."

| The Conejo Players Makes the Top Three List TWICE in "Best of Ventura County" |

The Ventura County Reporter has released the results of the 28th Annual Readers Survey on what's "Best in Ventura County." Readers were polled on what they liked best in such areas as beauty & style, entertainment, food & drink, health & fitness, recreation services, and shopping -- and recently, the top three choices in each category were announced. According to the VC Reporter, Ventura County has learned as a community, during these economically challenged times, "about the importance of living local and buying local." In the vein of "not only surviving but thriving," Conejo Players Theatre was honored in two categories by VC Reporter readers!
We are proud to report that in the category of "Best Theatre Company," The Conejo Players was named second in honors extended to three theatrical organizations. As an all-volunteer, non-profit community theatre competing against well-funded Equity theatres in the area, this is truly an honor and accomplishment of which we are very proud! Additionally, in the category of "Best Theatre Production," CPT's production of Forever Plaid came in third with readers. Given the abundance of available live theatre in Ventura County these days, once again CPT is thrilled to have been recognized. THANK YOU Ventura County!
