Greetings Friend,
Pumpkin Welcome to the United Way of Kenosha County's newly updated quarterly eNewsletter! As one of our most important stakeholders, we want to make sure that you receive timely information about all of the impactful ways that you can get involved with United Way on a year-round basis.

YOU are United Way and we thank you for all you do to
LIVE UNITED. Enjoy a wonderful, safe Fall season!

Day of Caring
Example Image
On Saturday, September 22 more than 150 volunteers gathered together at First Assembly to kick off this year's Day of Caring event. While it was a bit chilly and rainy, the weather did not deter the volunteers. From painting and landscaping to sorting donations and working with seniors, these volunteers showed us what it means to LIVE UNITED!

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

Now, more than ever, you deserve to keep your money. VITA provides free, quality tax return preparation to low-to-moderate income individuals, families, and seniors. To qualify for FREE tax help and possible earned income tax and child care credits, your 2012 household income must be less than $49,000.

Thank you to everyone who helped make tax season so successful in 2011! 72 volunteers helped prepare more than 862 returns that were accepted by the IRS for over $1.2 million in tax refunds! These refunds not only helped those who needed it most, but also helped generate more income within the local economy.

Get involved! Spread the word to those who qualify for the program, or receive free training to become an IRS-certified tax preparer. Find out more...

Campaign Underway!
Thank you to all of the wonderful local businesses that have been hard at work supporting this year's United Way campaign! Whether it be agency fairs, ice cream socials, cookouts or other events, organizations such as American Girl, Snap On, Johnson Bank, Kenosha Unified School District, Kenosha County, the City of Kenosha, or Abbott, and MANY MORE show us that improving lives in our community is not only rewarding in itself, but that you can have some fun while giving back!

No matter the size of your organization, you can get involved. Check out our new Campaign Toolkit or contact us today to learn how.

Special thanks to the members of this year's Campaign Cabinet, led by Honorary Chair, Dr. Gregory Woodward, President of Carthage College. This group provides directional support and strengthens United Way's outreach efforts.
