Green Circle Bio Energy Looks to Build Second Wood Pellet Facility

Green Circle Bio Energy took its first steps towards a second wood pellet plant this week. In a letter of intent, Green Circle communicated its interest in both leasing a site for a new pellet plant and entering into a wood fiber supply agreement with The St. Joe Company.
Enviva marked the official opening of its newest wood pellet plant in Northampton, North Carolina on May 21. The plant has a capacity of 551,155 tons (500,000 metric tons), employs 79 people and created an estimated 130 indirect jobs. Pellets produced at the facility are shipped to the Port of Chesapeake near Norfolk, Virginia.
2013 Farm Bill Passed by Senate, Awaits House Vote

The Senate passed its version of the Farm Bill - the Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act of 2013 - on June 10. The $955 billion legislative package set aside $1.1 billion in mandatory funding over the course of 10 years for renewable and clean energy programs.
State and Federal Legislation Targets Renewable Fuel Standards

Legislation Florida Governor Rick Scott signed last week repealed Florida's Renewable Fuel Standard. Passed in 2008, the standard required gasoline sold within the state to contain nine to 10 percent ethanol.
