Because more than half of McDonogh's alumni live outside the Baltimore area, regional chapters have been established in Atlanta, the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Los Angeles, and New York City to keep McDonogh's extended family connected and vibrant. We will officially launch our Washington, DC regional chapter on March 12. Chapter activities may include dinners, networking events, museum tours, community service projects, or happy hours.
If you are interested in serving on a planning committee, please contact Jen Little at [email protected] or the regional chapter chairs below. MCDONOGH FUND = OPPORTUNITY
It's Worth It!
Thanks to the McDonogh Fund, students have countless opportunities to pursue their interests and try a wide range of new and different activities in the classroom and beyond. Ultimately, these experiences help shape them as individuals. If you haven't done so, please take a moment to watch the second video in our McDonogh Fund series to see how senior Scott Carter's experience has broadened his outlook on life as well as his circle of friends.
We encourage all alumni to support the school with a gift or pledge to The McDonogh Fund. Annual gifts impact our students and faculty in positive ways every day. Broad participation is key, and every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Please make your donation today by using our secure online giving form. To learn more about The McDonogh Fund or to volunteer, contact Lea Ward at 443-544-7059 or [email protected] The McDonogh Fund...It's worth it!

MCDONOGH CONNECT NEWS
Premier Mentoring, Internship, and Career Resource Program
Thank you again to everyone who has signed up in the McDonogh Connect database. We've been making connections! Last fall, alumni, current and former parents hosted or helped coordinate shadow experiences for juniors in the Writing Process class in a number of different career areas including the Baltimore judiciary, dentistry, plastic surgery, food industry, finance, education, and NASA. We also appreciate the job announcements many of you have shared for a variety of summer programs and internship opportunities as well as those for positions at Transamerica, the Weinberg Foundation, T. Rowe Price, the SEED School, Under Armour, and TerraVerde Renewal. They have been posted on Alumni LinkedIn.
For a program that just launched in September, we at McDonogh Connect are excited about all that has been accomplished, and we know there's so much potential ahead! We look forward to getting everyone connected in our database -- so be on the lookout for a phone call or email! We encourage you to sign up if you haven't already -- the link is on the Alumni page of the McDonogh website. If you have any questions, please contact Anita Hilson, Director of McDonogh Connect, at [email protected]. Many thanks again for your support!

MCDONOGH'S 150TH ANNIVERSARY
McDonogh's Storied History
As part of McDonogh's sesquicentennial celebration in 2023, Middle School faculty member Jon Aaron '72 will be writing a history of the school. This book will differ from the previously published chronologies in that it will be a social history of McDonogh. While the 150th anniversary is almost 10 years away, it's not too early to begin gathering the impressions and the memories that help tell the McDonogh story. Jon is seeking notes or letters penned by faculty, students, parents, alumni, coaches, friends, and others about anything relating to McDonogh School. Also of interest are journals and film (16 mm dating back to the 1920s, Standard 8 from the 1930s to early 1960s, Super 8 beginning in 1965, and contemporary camcorder tapes). Artifacts and memorabilia that tell the story of accomplishments or struggles in the academic, artistic, athletic, and extra-curricular lives of students through the years would be helpful, too. Please explore your basement, cellar, and attic; comb your shelves, drawers, and closets; you may be surprised at what long-forgotten treasures you'll uncover. Jon would love to hear about your discoveries and determine how they can benefit this project or McDonogh's archives. Please contact Jon at [email protected] or 443-690-7481.

MEDICAL SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Under the terms of a bequest left to McDonogh School by Paul B. Misner, the Dunloggin Medical Scholarship Fund provides grants to McDonogh alumni currently enrolled in medical school in the United States.
To be eligible, a student must have completed the first year of medical school. Scholarships will be granted for one year and may be renewed twice, providing for three successive years of scholarship support. In addition, when a recipient successfully completes the final year of medical study, some reimbursement for the first year's expenses may be granted. In awarding funds, a preference is shown for those students who attended McDonogh on a scholarship. The application deadline is August 15. Please contact Steve Birdsall for additional information at 443-544-7027 or [email protected]. |
