CMP UPDATE
The Naylor Building Officially Opens

The Naylor Building Ribbon Cutting
Irv Naylor (left) watches as his wife, Diane, cuts the ribbon to officially open The Naylor Building to the delight of Headmaster Charlie Britton, members of the Naylor Family, and the Upper School community.

After a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open The Naylor Building on the first day of school, students and faculty are settling into the new spaces. One of the many exciting things in the building is a student-designed electronic information board in the lobby which displays lots of STEM related news as well as up-to-date weather data.

The new road in front of the Edward St. John Center has been completed and is being used for student drop-off and pick-up. Please remember to drive slowly on that road because students are walking in the area. Meanwhile, construction continues on The Edward St. John Student Center and is on track to open in January or February.

The new bus lot made its debut this week and it is working out very well. Please note that this area can be used for parking after 4:00 p.m.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL JAM FEST
Make Your Reservations Now

Mark your calendar for McDonogh's second Back-to-School Jam Fest, a kick-off to the school year planned for Friday, September 20. Rat Pack, a popular, three-piece rock and blues band, will perform from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the parking lot outside of the Burck Center lobby.

Join the McDonogh community for a tailgate-style picnic of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, pasta salad, soda, and water. Bring your own dessert, chairs, and blankets, and enjoy the outdoor concert. A moon bounce, face painting, and kiddie tattoos will be available for the younger kids. This event is free, but reservations are required for dinner. Please click here to sign up for the JamFest dinner.

LOWER SCHOOL

Aquapalooza Tomorrow

Once again this year, Lower School students will be rewarded for their summer reading -- a collected grand total of 3,250 books! Tomorrow afternoon they will celebrate at Aquapalooza, where kids can race through sprinklers, jump about in a moonbounce, slip down small-to-tall water slides, and glide down a 22-foot inflatable slide.

Mrs. Lidston will dress up as Monster University's "Mike," and students may come to school wearing green clothing of their choice (the color of Mike!) Remember to send bathing suits, towels, and sunscreen for these wet events.

Please note that the date of Aquapalooza was changed from September 6 in recognition of the two days of Rosh Hashanah celebrated by a number of our families. The date of Birthday Friday, celebrated in grades 1-4, has also been changed -- from September 6 to September 13.

Morning Arrival - 7:55 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

Please do not drop children off at the Lower School prior to 7:55 a.m. Teachers may not be in their classrooms at this time and we cannot guarantee safe supervision of children.

AfterCare Program

Reminder: if your child will be participating in the Lower School AfterCare Program directed by George Webb and Kate Hailstone, please remember to send in your registration form and the $40 deposit required for both full-time and part-time students.
