Child Find for Special Education Services
Special Education Services: Students with disabilities that significantly impact upon their educational progress may be eligible for special education and related services. Upon referral, the Child Study Team (School Psychologist, Learning Consultant and Social Worker) will meet with the family to discuss concerns and to determine if evaluation is necessary. If a student is found to be eligible, an Individual Education Program (I.E.P.) will be developed to meet the educational needs of the student. Programs may include accommodations and modifications in the general education setting to small class instruction with a special education teacher. All decisions regarding the IEP are discussed at least annually and the parent/guardian is encouraged to be an active participant in the process.

Preschool for Students with Disabilities: Do you suspect that your child is slow in developing language or find he/she is having difficulty socializing with others? Your child may be eligible for the Burlington Township School District's Preschool Disabilities Program. This program is open to children between the ages of 3 and 4 years 11 months. For further information contact the Child Study Team Office at 609 387 3955 ext. 2060 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

HIB Reporting Tool

The Burlington Township School District strongly believes that student safety is a fundamental right. Students must be given the opportunity to learn in an environment of trust and support. To that end, we fully embrace the newly-enacted Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights and related board policies.

If a parent or student believes bullying has occurred, the matter should immediately be reported to the Principal, Vice Principal, and/or School Anti-Bullying Specialist.

Parents are also able to report incidents by using the District online tool.

BTHS Grad Comes Back Home to Talk STEM

Special thanks to Luke Capritti, BTHS Graduate, for returning home to conduct a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) TALK with students in Mrs. Smith and Mr. Craft's class. He talked about his BTHS experiences and how they helped to shape his success. Luke also engaged the students in conversations about Stem Careers. Luke talked about how developing good work habits helped prepare him for college. He discussed the process of choosing the right college and encouraged the students to investigate STEM, STEM careers and STEM products. He ended his presentation by showing the students some of the projects he is working on, along with photos of the vehicle his engineering team is designing. He passed around various 3D printer creations and a prototype solar powered cellphone case for the students to examine, and handle. Our graduates continue to make us proud. The Falcon is flying high.

Fire Safety Week

A special thank you to our Fire Department for educating our students about fire safety. Thank you for all that you do for our community.  Be sure to ask your children about the valuable lessons they learned about fire safety this week.

Have You Seen the Gingerbread Man?

Paying Tribute to SiSi

Sisi's soccer team paid tribute to her memory and supported the Siani Strong Foundation at the opening day games for all 3 girls teams. The Freshman team presented Mr. & Mrs. McCurry with Sisi's jersey, and a soccer ball that was signed by the entire team. Siani was very passionate about soccer, having played from the time she could kick the ball until her illness prevented her from playing. She had incredible courage and a fighting spirit. She inspired all she came in contact with to never give up. The team marched across the field linked arm in arm with the visiting Moorestown team right behind them to pay tribute to an amazing young lady.

These are the words written by the students to honor their teammate:

This year, Siani would have been a freshman attending Burlington Township High School and playing for the HS soccer team.  For those who knew Siani, she had an unbelievable passion for soccer.  Her courage, faith and spirit impacted so many people's lives both close and far.

Siani McCurry is a:

Hero, inspiration, strong, loving, brave, hilarious, dedicated, courageous, beautiful, talented, selfless, intelligent, unique, unforgettable, spontaneous, sassy, honest, witty, giving, caring, everyone's favorite, athletic, determined, loyal, confident, our leader.

While Siani cannot be here with us today in person, she will always be looking over us...(pause) as we tie our cleats, walk onto the field, and give our best just like she did everyday.  Although there are many people that never got to meet Siani her memory, stories and strength live with us all.

To remember this special girl, the Girl's soccer team would like to present an honorary jersey and a soccer ball signed by all the players in the program to the McCurry family.

Together, we can all help Siani and her family "Kick that Junk!"

Thank you and Please support the Siani Strong Foundation!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Homecoming PG volunteers will be working the concession stands at the Homecoming Football Game on November 1st.
We will need both adult and student (seniors) to work.  You need not be there the entire time.  We will have two shifts available.
We are also looking for large slushy machines that  can be loaned to us on that day.

Flamingo Flocking  This project has the potential to raise a few thousand dollars!  However we need a team that is willing to help "flock".  This means actually putting the flamingos on lawns as orders come in.

The Holiday Bazaar  PG will be hosting concessions as well as a basket/prize raffle on November 15th. We need volunteers to help on the day of the bazaar.  We also need donations for the basket /prize raffle.  Please consider donating a gift basket (movie item basket, board game basket or any appropriately themed basket).  Be creative! You can donate on your own or together with friends to create the basket.  If you are not comfortable putting the basket together, just give us all of the items and we will be happy to put them all together.  The more we have, the more successful this fundraiser will be.

Curb Painting  We are in the process of arranging this fundraiser. We will need adult volunteers to paint house numbers on the curbs of those requesting the service. We are anticipating one day per month (depending on demand) and you need not volunteer for every time.  These numbers make it easier to locate your home in the event of an emergency and will be done under township guidelines.

Please contact Beth at 609 386-0719 or Maryann at 609 747-0725 if you have questions and to volunteer for one of these (or future) Project Graduation Fundraising events.

Honoring the Past...Soaring Towards the Future!
Falcon Head Logo This year marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Burlington Township High School. If you are an alumni of Burlington Township High, served on the Board of Education, or were a teacher/staff member at any point during the past 50 years, we want to hear from you.

We are looking to create a data base so we are able to share important information regarding the 50th Anniversary celebration.

Britishmania Concert
The Burlington Township Foundation thanks everyone who supported the Britishmania fundraiser concert; whether you volunteered your time, purchased a sponsorship package, or bought your ticket to the show, it was greatly appreciated.

This event was a huge success and enjoyed by so many! The concert raised funds to put mobile devices into the hands of our students and we look forward to getting the first devices out to the school district. Each classroom set of devices costs about $7,000. We still have plenty of work ahead of us before we can outfit classrooms throughout the school buildings, but it is great to see this first step, as we get ready to continue the journey.

Start Kids Smart
Special thank you to the BTHS cheerleaders for their assistance with the Burlington Rotary Start Kids Smart Program. This program has benefited hundreds of students in our area over the years.

The importance of a student starting the school year with the necessary supplies to promote learning cannot be understated. The materials provided to our students allow them to start the school year SMART, with confidence that they are prepared to learn throughout the year.

Our cheerleaders gave back to the community by packing 200 backpacks this year. The donations by our community members are greatly appreciated.

The Burlington Township School District will develop the intellectual, creative, and social potential of each child through an active partnership with all members of the community.
