New Day Standard December 2014
IRMI Conference Wrap-Up

New Day is proud to have once again been a sponsor at the IRMI 34th Construction Risk Conference.  Jeff Lejfer, Jeff Slivka, Tim Farrell, Mitch Cohen and Joe Nawa represented New Day at the conference.  This year's venue at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville allowed for constructive meetings with carriers, brokers and clients as well as for fun and excitement off-site.  Some common themes throughout the conference were:

  • Increasing requirements for Contractors Professional Liability Insurance
  • Continued discussion of P3 (Public Private Partnerships)
  • Many are bullish on the construction sector and still see significant growth as the residential marketplace has yet to take off
  • Several new entries into the Construction Professional Marketplace

We look to forward to joining IRMI in Las Vegas in 2015.

New Day Named One of Philly's Fastest Growing Companies

For the 2nd year in a row New Day has been named to the Philadelphia 100, a prestigious distinction that recognizes the 100 fastest growing, privately held companies in the Philadelphia region.  New Day was named #56 (up from #77 in 2013) on the list at an awards ceremony held on October 16th at The Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.  To qualify, New Day met selection criteria that was based on our sales history over the past three years.

Continuously striving to provide optimal environmental and construction-related risk management solutions for our broker partners and their insureds, we look forward to continuing our growth as we move forward into 2015 and beyond.

Product Highlight:   Architects and Engineers Professional Liability

Over the course of the past three years, the professional liability insurance market for architects and engineers has continued down its path of recovery after suffering through the 2008 economic downturn.  New carriers continue to enter the market with revolutionized coverage forms and enhancements.  The trend remains consistent, as one carrier will come up with a coverage enhancement and others will match said enhancements, which is pushing the industry towards becoming somewhat commoditized. New Day Celebrating 10th Anniversary

Throughout 2015, New Day will celebrate its 10th anniversary in business.  It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since Jeff Lejfer, Jeff Slivka and Tim Farrell sat in a corner booth at a diner outside of Philadelphia eating nachos and wings discussing their concept of what would become New Day Underwriting Managers.

Thank you to all of those who have supported our success and our growth over the past ten years.  Our partner brokers, the insurance carriers, our vendors and our employees have all contributed greatly to our success and we look forward to continuing these relationships in 2015 and beyond.

Risk Tip - Oil and Gas

Upstream and midstream oil and gas risks have significant environmental exposures including hazardous spills and releases, groundwater contamination, storage tanks, pipelines, and air emissions just to name a few.  However, relying on standard insurance policies including General Liability and Control of Well coverages to address these exposures could be costly and may have an adverse impact on your balance sheet.  In addition, significant coverage gaps may exist with these policies including limited coverage arising from well control events as well as shared limits with non-environmental coverages meaning there may not be limits available to fund your environmental liabilities.  Read here about how PLL coverage for oil & gas risks can address these coverage gaps.

2014 Holiday Giving and Celebrations

It's been a busy holiday season for the New Day team.  Our employees enjoyed an offsite, combined holiday/10th anniversary party that included spouses/significant others as well as some of our long-time vendors.  Our annual office pot luck lunch and Pollyanna offered a time for employees to take time out of their busy workday to enjoy each others company and exchange gifts. Read more here about all of our holiday festivities.

Success Stories

New Day often likes to share success stories to demonstrate our expertise in negotiating policies for our broker partners including reduced premium, increased coverage terms, or possibly different coverages than what were previously held by an insured but really necessary in presenting a truly optimal solution to meeting their risk management needs.  Read more about each by clicking their title.
