IRMI Conference Wrap-Up

New Day is proud to have once again been a sponsor at the IRMI 33rd Construction Risk Conference. Jeff Lejfer, Jeff Slivka, Geoff Haver and David Slaugenhoup represented New Day at the conference. They enjoyed great weather in this year's San Diego locale and had constructive meetings with carriers, brokers and clients at this well attended conference . Some common themes throughout the conference were that the construction industry is on an upswing and the belief that the industry will not return to 2007 levels until 2016. We look to forward to joining IRMI in Nashville in 2014.

As the standard insurance marketplace coverages continue to constrict for certain classes of business, the appetite in the environmental casualty marketplace fills the coverage gap and provides solutions for ever growing classes of business.

New Day's 2nd Annual Adopt-a-Family Program

For the second year in a row, New Day adopted a family for the holidays. Working with St. Mary's Church in Bordentown, NJ, the New Day team adopted a family consisting of a single mother with 7 children ranging in age from 8 months to 16 years. Our employee response was overwhelming. We pooled our resources to provide clothing, toys and gift cards in hopes of making a brighter holiday for this family.

New Day Named One of Fastest Growing Companies

New Day is pleased to announce our debut to the Philadelphia 100, a prestigious distinction that recognizes the 100 fastest growing, privately held companies in the Philadelphia region. New Day was named #77 on the list at an awards ceremony held on October 16th at The Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

To qualify, New Day met selection criteria that was based on our sales history over the past three years. In 2012 alone, New Day increased sales and staffing by nearly 50 percent.

Continuously striving to provide optimal environmental and construction-related risk management solutions for our broker partners and their insureds, we look forward to continuing our growth as we move forward into 2014 and beyond.

The New Day Team Meets Vince Papale

Our New Day team had a wonderful opportunity to meet Vince Papale, former Philadelphia Eagle who joined the team as a result of a walk-on tryout and subsequently was the inspiration for the movie "Invincible." Vince's speech was all about going after your dreams, never giving up and being passionate in all that you do. The speech hit close to home for everyone on our team especially our New Day partners who had a dream in 2005 to make New Day what it is today. We look forward to continuing our growth and to be inspired by those with whom we work as we begin our 10th year in business.

Jeff Slivka is one of New Day's founding partners. As Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Jeff heads up New Day's Construction Group as well as the entire underwriting team.

Retrieving Environmental Information is Easier Than You Think

Information is essential throughout the process of risk management. The more precise, the better. It is no different within the environmental risk management process. However, sometimes even the most basic of information can be costly. At http://www.epa.gov/emefdata/em4ef.home, the US EPA has set up a simple and easy to use website to locate companies or properties that use hazardous materials or generate hazardous waste, have a history of using such and that may be in violations of mishandling the waste. In addition, the site can identify those properties that are under investigation for violating certain environmental laws. It can even identify Superfund sites.

The applicability of this site can vary from a general contractor bidding a job that would like to see if there has been any environmental issues associated with the project site to a company entertaining the purchase of real estate. Of course this is merely the first step in collecting relatively inexpensive information but an effective one that can provide perspective on the property of interest. Check it out!
