Risk Tip
During the risk management process decisions are made and implemented that are intended to minimize the adverse affects of accidental business losses to an organization. The environmental risk management process is no different. The first step in the process is to identify and analyze exposure to loss. Many times we forget the basics. Next time you are talking to your clients about contractors pollution liability insurance, take a step back and first think about creating an environmental risk profile (ERP) to systematically assess the risk. After all, how do you know what to insure against, if you don't understand what is at risk? An ERP is a structured management tool used to identify the various environmental exposures associated with an operation. Typically, it will encompass a review of an organization's operations with a focus on administrative strategies/ protocol to reduce or manage certain risks. New Day has assisted many organizations to create stand-alone ERPs that specifically address environmental liability and structure a more useful insurance program.
