Dog Owners - Please be Responsible & Respectful

Owning a dog means having responsibilities, not only for your pet, but also to your neighbors and community.  Here are some points all dog owners in Fairway should follow:
  • When walking your dog, please remember to pick up any dog waste and dispose of it properly in your trash at home.

  • Pay attention when leaving your dog outdoors.  Your barking dog may not be noticeable to you, but it is to your neighbors.  If your dog is barking, it may need something (food, water, attention, to be inside).  Please take action and tend to its needs.

  • All dogs must be on a leash if they are off the premises of the owner.

  • Dogs over six months of age (including foster dogs) must be licensed with the City annually prior to March 31 to avoid late fees.  A current rabies vaccination certificate is required before a City license can be issued.  The cost of a license is $5.00 for spayed/neutered dogs or $25.00 for un-neutered/unspayed dogs.

  • The number of dogs at each home is limited to three (including foster dogs).  Formal permission to keep more than three dogs at a residence must be requested and approved by the City Council.

Pet Waste
Affects Water Quality

Every time it rains, thousands of pounds of pet waste wash down storm drains and into streams, rivers and lakes.  If not disposed of properly, pet waste flows directly into nearby streams and creeks without being treated at wastewater treatment facilities.
