The City is aware of the issues with yard waste collection and has been in communications with Town & Country Disposal. Town & Country Disposal was recently sold and the new operations management (Waste Corporation of Missouri) is in the process of addressing operational and staffing challenges. Those challenges have resulted in yard waste collection being delayed and individual residences missing the collection. As of this week, Town & Country Disposal has ensured the City that all routes in Fairway are now fully staffed and Monday service will resume as normal.
If you experience any service issues, please contact Fairway City Hall at 913-262-0350 x0 on Tuesday morning.
Reminders for collection day:
- Trash, Recycling & Yard Waste must be set out at the curb by 6:30 a.m. DO NOT set carts/items in the street or gutter.
- Trash, Recycling & Yard Waste should be set apart with space between the containers. The spacing allows the three separate collection trucks to visually identify what is trash, recycling and yard waste.
- Trash carts are to be placed within a foot of the curb with the arrow facing the street.
DO NOT set items on or against the cart. - Yard Waste must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or in designated yard waste cans. DO NOT place yard waste in the trash cart provided by Town & Country Disposal. Stickers to designate a yard waste can are available at Fairway City Hall.
- Branches are to be bundled (bundle not to exceed 4 feet in length, 2 feet in diameter, and not exceed 60 lbs in weight).
- Recycling is to be placed in the provided blue recycling bin or recycling cart (has a blue top).
- Collection trucks need clear access to reach the carts and yard waste. DO NOT park on the street in front of carts and yard waste that are at the curb for collection.
