Household Hazardous Waste, Paint,
& Electronic Waste Recycling
The Johnson County Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be collecting Household Chemicals, Paint, & Electronics.

Saturday, September 12th  from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Residents must make an appointment to drop off their electronic waste and household chemicals for recycling, and may do so online at www.jocogov.org or by calling 913-715-6907.
(The facility is located inside a secured county wastewater treatment plant near I-35 and Lamar and is not accessible without an appointment.  Directions will be given to you once you've made an appointment.)
  
Accepted electronic items are any electronic devices that have a cord or batteries including cameras, CD players, cell phones, all computer equipment, faxes, printers, video games, small kitchen appliances and more.  All items are recycled for free, except TV tube monitors and TVs under 27 inches are $20, over 27 inches are $40.  CASH and CHECK only.

Accepted household hazardous waste: old paint, automotive products, lawn and garden chemicals, cleaning products, crafts and hobby supplies and more, at no charge to residents. 

The HHW facility is open year round and accepts appointments for household hazardous waste throughout the week.  Electronic waste is only accepted during the select Saturdays.

Johnson County Department of Health and Environment will host
Electronic Waste Recycling and Household Hazardous Materials Recycling Events on the 2nd Saturday of each month through October.
  
 
Johnson County Re-blended Paint Program

High quality latex paint that is collected at the Household Hazardous Waste facility is re-blended on site and available for purchase in 5 gallon buckets.  Paint is inspected for quality before being seperated into various colors. Sale of the paint helps fund the Johnson County Household Hazardous Waste Program.

White Paint - $25 (tints vary)
Beige Paint - $15 (tints vary)
Gray Paint - $10 (tints vary)
Brown Paint - $5 (tints vary)

No appointment is necessary for picking up paint.
Store Hours - Paint may only be purchased during our regular hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8am-3pm
Note: You may also pick up paint during the Saturday Collection Events which occur on the 2nd Saturday of the month starting in March through October 8-11:30am.
