One of my favorite authors, C.S. Lewis, wrote, "Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'" That's so true, isn't it? We love finding common ground with others. We're not as excited to discover differences. Yet if we're honest, we're going to have both, similarities and differences, with every single person in our lives. No one is exactly like us, but no one is nothing like us either. After all, we're all human!
This week, we'll explore ministry opportunities for connecting women on both their similarities and differences. There's not a one-approach-fits-all ministry solution for connecting women. Groups can be seen and experienced as welcoming niches or exclusive cliques. When the point is to involve and include others, we need to consider the pros and cons of our programs.
I hope you enjoy the new ideas, and I also hope you'll be challenged to look at what you're already doing with fresh eyes and keep an open mind to the changes that might benefit you and the women you're trying to reach.
